Here in the Coachella Valley we have The Coachella Valley Rescue Mission and Marthas Village & Kitchen. These organizations work all year to help our homeless and also less fortunate families. A few weeks ago it seemed to be a depressing holiday for many as food donations were down considerably.
The Mission has handed out 300 boxes of holiday meals including a turkey to families who otherwise would not be able to afford a holiday dinner this year. The mission expects to serve 2,700 hot Thanksgiving meals today and Thursday and continuing into the weekend.
This would not be possible if not for the generosity of individuals donating. Even in tough economic times, many people found a way to donate something to the food drive. Even though we all may feel a pinch this year, it is so nice to know that people still have a heart
