As usual, I woke around 4:30 AM this morning. Trying to be quiet and not wake up the rest of the family, I logged into Facebook, and noticed that my husband had added a link to his wall to a newspaper article. His childhood friend Todd, along with his two small children and his teenage brother-in-law, were killed in a car accident on Thanksgiving Day as they headed to a family reunion.
I looked in the bed again, to notice that Roger wasn't there...I found him sitting at his desk with tears in his eyes. He had been on the phone with friends all night remembering Todd and all of the good times they had. As old friends log on to facebook, they continue to call with their surprise and sadness. Todd's Wife, Deva, survived the accident, but with serious injuries. As a mother, wife and sister, I cannot begin to imagine what Deva must be going through right now.

Roger, My husband, just received a message from Todd's sister, Rebecca, with a request for help and to please pass along. At a time when I know that nothing I can say will make them feel any better, I can pass this on and hopefully it will help them. I count my blessings one by one today and will pray without ceasing for Todd's Wife and family.
Below is the message from Rebecca:
Roger,Thank you so much for your prayers and concern,we apprecite it greatly..Actually there is something you can do to help me as well as Deva and the Family..As you probaly know,Deva has been in school full time, and Todd was attending also, and with two children,...they never had alot of money..So now Deva is stuck with a burial of not one but three...And she did not ask for this, and she as well as Todd and the children did not deserve this..So im asking of all friends to please post The Szymankiewicz Memorial Fund so maybe others will re-post it,and maybe they will donate..Every little bit helps so that we can have Todd and the children buried..Deva's plans are to have a service in TX for family and friends, and then after that at Todd's request, she is escorting Todd and the children to Chicago, where there will be a final service for family and friends and Todd and the children will be laid to rest by the Szymankiewicz ancestors..So,Todd was my closest brother,my heart, and I loved my Bean and Casi like no other, and Deva is like my sister, and it is my duty to try and get everyone to help and get the word out there..Thank you so much...The Szymankiewicz Memorial FundAustin Federal Credit Union 1900 Woodward StreetAustin Texas 78741(512)444-6419http://www.facebook.com/l/277ae;www.austinfcu.com Thank you so much Roger, Rebecca Szymankiewicz Perez.
Please feel free to reblog, copy and paste on facebook, or anywhere else you can think of. As Rebecca said, "Every little bit helps".
