This Week's Tool To Share - My Favorite Credit Card.

This week has flown by, what with Thanksgiving, my wedding anniversary, grandchildren out of school all week because of DEER SEASON, mom's health issues, and trying to get ready to leave for The National Finals Rodeo in a few days to watch our son DV Fennell, bareback ride (YAY DV!!!).

I had made a committment to share ever week a tool that I find worthwhile.

With all that's going on, I didn't get this done on Tuesday for Tuesday's Tool To Share, but it's just as worthwhile to share on a Saturday, I think...

But due to everything going on, it was really easy to know which tool to share this week.

I have never been happy in the past with any credit card that I had chosen.  They always seem to promise one thing and the fine print then really told you what the promise meant... which often wasn't much!

But - - I have been extremely happy with my PenFed credit card.

It's the one cash rewards card that does what they say they will, so far at least and I've been using it for a couple of years now.

This is the way that I have found them to be:

5% on gasoline purchases made at the pump. REALLY - not just an intro rate to get you hooked.

2% on supermarket purchases.

1.25% on all other purchases.

AND they immediately credit to your account.. it's already been deducted when you get the statement!

There are no fees and their customer service has been super anytime I'm contacted them.

Of course you have to join the PenFed credit union.

There are several ways to join.  One of these ways will fit you.

Disclaimer:  I receive no compensation whatsoever for telling you about the PenFed credit card...

That's a neat card.  I like that 5% on gasoline.

Isn't that novel.  A credit card that does what it says.  By the way how is Oklahoma today?  My kids live in Ardmore....Two Frogs Restaurant....say hello to Aubry and Angeila.  Tell them Mom says hello.  And eat some ribs for me.

Hi Judi, thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to tell us about PenFed.  Credit cards are cconvenient tools as long as they are paid to zero each month.

Best of luck to DV.

Dynamite.  I need to get one.  I can't stand some of the card companies I have to deal with now.

Lance, That was the MAIN reason that I got the penfed card.  I had one that started out at 5% but then reduced it.  I then had one that didn't recognize Murphy Oil as a gasoline station!  I used my GM for a while but I'm probably not going to buy another Chevrolet so that was a waste of rebate funds.... finally found PenFEd.

Sandra - Awesome.  I get through Ardmore every once in a while.  I will stop.

Bill, I agree.  Pay them when you get the statement. It's the convenience and rebate that I like.

Judi, the rebates from some credit cards are great. I have done that with the Discover card at times on gas purchases. I also love that you live a diverse life with the rodeo. VERY good!!

Hi Judi: I like the fact that they deduct it for you right from your statement and don't make you jump through hoops to get it!

Hi Judi!  You know, we were just seeking a new credit union to join.  I did go to the link and saw that the annual fee to join the NMFA is just $20.00, which is what i'd have to do to qualify since we do not meet the other requirements.   I will keep you posted if we do take membership!  Thanks a lot for the information!

Judi I find credit unions have terrific products.  It is wonderful when you find a credit card you can be happy with, really finding value in the claims made.

Diane, If NMFA is the way that you can join PenFed, they only require that you be a member when you join... you do NOT have to maintain membership in the NMFA.  To get the PenFed card it would be the $20 for NMFA and open an account with PenFed with at least $5.  The first month I got more than that back in rebates.  The $5 stays in the account and you do not have to keep renewing your membership in NMFA unless you want to...

Judi, it is funny that you chose this topic today, because I was going through my credit cards today to see which to keep and which to stop using.  You don't realize the differences in credit cards until you take a little time to examine them.
