UPDATE: They Wall Papered The Ceiling

By
Home Stager with Stage-Show-Sell

Old ceiling post

I realize that I'm miking this project into several posts :-)

There is no way that I'm going to work my heart and soul out for two months and put up one set of before and after pictures.

This was one of the ugliest bathrooms that I've ever seen.  The wall paper itself was bad.  The shutters, yellow tiles and yellow sinks added to the eye strain.

wall paper on the ceiling

wall paper in the bathroom

I love the flower toilet seat

I was expecting mold under the paper since it was a damp room and the shutters allowed no light.  It was a surprise to find good walls underneath

gone

The double sink was replaced with a sink sink and a marble looking counter top

Th medicine cabinet and and light fixture had to stay for economy purposes.

We used the same mirror and framed it.

I have a wonderful crew.  Wall paper strippers, painters, electricians.

My husband helped me with the mirror framing and Marianne Sweet helped with the staging.

My crew is wonderful.

updating bathroom

There is one sink now instead of two.  This gives a little counter space.

The cabinet's 3rd drawer, next to the toilet, has two shelves for items and a built in waste basket.

WOW!! Great job on the before and after pics... I'm still hung up on the wallpapered ceiling above the shower though. Yuck!

The shutters in the "before" photos was the best feature!  Why would someone paper a ceiling in the bathroom (or anywhere else - but especially a bathroom??)! Great job!

You really opened up that room.  The before pictures prove, once again, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. :o)

Betina, I would have loved to put in a new surround and tub.   It just wasn't in the budget.  We're hoping the buyers will look at it and think what great condition it is OR add it to their budget down the road.

Sally and David,  I thought the toilet seat was a collectors item.  Thought putting it on Ebay :-) to raise funds for the renovation

Ashley, I agree.  It was a vynl paper so maybe that's why there was no mold underneath.

Susy, you are so right.  The shutters had to go anyway.  Thanks for commenting.

Bill, styles come and they go but I'm not sure that was really ever a style.

Virginia, it's still hard to believe that in the 60's and 70's that we did so many outlandish wallpaper treatments.  This room truly has new life now.  Great work.

I vote this transformation the most improved bathroom staging of all time!

The toilet seat should definitely go to the Smithsonian.

WOW-WIE!  What an incredible difference!!! Buyers would have seen that bathroom and been so overwhelmed they would ;t know where to begin.  Now, even the yellow tile looks like a ray of sunshine ~ Awesome job!

Ginger, home decor is like clothing.  Don't we look back and wonder what was in our heads when we wore some outfits.   This is the same except I stayed too long

It's easier to toss out a bad dress.

Michelle, I'll take that award proudly.  I should have sold the seat on ebay

Maureen, I shuttered everytime I walked past that bathroom.   It was the first room that we attacked after the estate sale.  I couldn't even use it for the purposes that it was intended.

Connie,  Your reaction is almost the same as the families.  They couldn't believe how good it could look.

Cathy, THANKS

Thanks to all of you for commenting

OMGosh... I've never had the distinct pleasure of even seeing a home with wall paper on the ceiling.

Your after picture is just fabulous, Virginia.

Congratulations. Your home staging is being featured in the group Staging Before & After Pictures.

I want it noted that when I staged the bathroom, I did NOT leave the towels on the counter like that!  The smaller towels were arranged differently, and the larger towels were on the toilet seat.  I think someone DID use the bathroom for it's intended purpose!!  :)

Kathy, THANK YOU being featured is wonderful.  Being featured twice is unbelievable.

All that work paid off.

Marianne,  I'll bet the home inspector moved the towels.  Darn him anyway.

Wallpaper on the ceiling!  You really had a tough job ahead of you.  From your after shots, you cannot even tell it is the same room.  Fantastic job!

I can imagine you almost fell over when you first saw this bathroom!  You really made a difference here, now the buyers can see themselves actually using this bathroom instead of gasping in disbelief. Congratulations on a phenomenal job and the feature. You deserve it.

I don't think you are milking it at all.  You have much to be proud of. The before and after pics are a drastic change.
