The email started like many others....I want you to help me and invest....ok...fair enough...sounds legitimate....then the response....

Hello, Thanks for your reply.I am very interested in establishing viable investment in your country with your help. I do not know too well on how this is done in your country, so i will need your help in this regard. My preference is any good profit yeilding business and i would appreciate any viable ideas you could come up with. For a brief on myself; My full name is Jennifer Samuel, i am 26 years old girl, from Sierra Leone but presently,i am living in Senegal both countries is in Africa.I came to here in Senegal due to the civil war fought in my country years ago. I don't have any relatives now whom i can go to all my relatives ran away in the middle of the war, the only person i have now is Rev.Henry who is the pastor of the Church here in the House of Refuge Mission he has been very nice to me since i came here but i am not living with him rather i am living at the the women's shelter in the church because the House of Refuge Mission have two hostels, one for men the other for women. The Pastor's Tel number is +221766942827 if you call and tell him that you want to speak with me, he will send for me to come and answer your call. Please listen to this(it's a secret, even the pastor don't know about it),i have my late father's deposit certificate and his death certificate here with me which i will send to you later, because when he was alive he deposited some amount of money in one of the leading Financial company which he used my name as the next of kin,the amount in question is $7,000,000.00(Seven Million US Dollars).I want you to help me claim this money and transfer this money to your account and from it you will send some money for me to get my travelling documents and air ticket to come over to meet with you.I kept this secret to people in the camp here so in the light of above i will like you to keep it to yourself and don't tell it to anyone for i am afraid of loosing my life and the money if people gets to know about it here. Remember i am giving you all this information due to the trust i deposed on you.I like honest and understanding and truthful.Awaiting to hear from you soonest. Kind Regards, Jennifer.

Richard.  Any emails I get about investments get the delete key treatment.  I never read them.  "Pump and dump" is still around and always will be.

This scam is so old it stinks.  What makes me laugh is that the people who send this crap out must not know how stupid they look and sound.  The part that makes me sad is that some people actually still fall for it.  It's a shame.  Report the spammer to AR and they'll block the IP address.

I hate spammers. How do they think they can get away with it? I would love to hear their rational.

I just can't imagine anyone falling for anything like this. However, I have received some phising scams that look very close to the web sites on banks, ebay, etc...
