HUD's changes to several closing and settlement regulations will be effective on January 1-or before (some lenders are already compliant). The Good Faith Estimate and HUD-1 forms have changed dramatically, which means the closing process as you know it will be changing, too.
The consequence for not understanding the new rules? Quite possibly, a botched closing.
