There are 3 easy ways to make your existing home greener, Retrofit, Remodel and Renovate!

Samples of retrofitting your home on a budget.

  • Use Compact Florescent light bulbs instead of standard light bulbs. This will cost you around $60 and save you around$90 in energy savings so your return on investment in 1 year will be 130%.
  • Install a programmable thermostat. This will cost you around $50 and save you $180 in energy savings so your ROI in 1 year will be 355%.
  • Install low flow shower heads in your showers. This will cost you around $150 and will save you almost $300 a year on your water bill so your ROI in 1 year is 200%.
  • Install a water heater insulation jacket.  This will cost you around $35 but will save you around $55 a year so your ROI in 1 year is 155%.

  • Replace your old windows with Energy Star windows. This will cost you about $500 per widow and save you around $300 a year in heating and cooling costs so your ROI in 1 year is almost 60%.
