Looking in the Winter Versus Waiting till Spring

By
Real Estate Agent with Erlandson Realty

Southwest Wisconsin offers some of the most beautiful and unique real estate you will find in the Midwest. From Grant County, Crawford County, Vernon County, La Crosse County, Monroe County, Buffalo County and Richland County. Just take a drive down some of the country roads and you will see what I am talking about. These areas are located in the heart of the drift-less area which is noted for fantastic high bluffs, very scenic river view acreages and hidden valleys that offer refuge to a over abundance of wildlife. This South west Wisconsin area is home to gin clear streams, and small rivers that offer some of the best fishing anywhere in the U.S. Many of these bodies of water actually flow into the upper Mississippi river wildlife refuge, which consists of hundreds of thousands of acres of public land along the river for everyone to enjoy

Few customers actually understand the true secrets of looking at land in the winter. One is I have more time to work with you, and also you have more time to spend with me. It seems that the winter months are less congested with commitments than the other times of the year.

The second important factor that winter brings is that you can enjoy the fact that with the green grass being gone and the leaves off the trees, you can see every square inch of the land. This gives you the availability for you to be able to see all of the property at what most consider its ugliest state. The great thing is that if you love the land now, just think of the feelings this land will give you when the seasons change throughout the rest of the year. However you can add in the fact of the humidity is gone along with any insects. Winter does give us the crystal clear blue skies, and the pleasing aroma of the wood burning from the fireplaces, while we wake to the frost glittering mornings, that offer us some of the most awesome photographic opportunities one could wish for.

Now add in all of the recreational choices this are gives to you. Ice skating, sledding, tubing, and snow-boarding are some of the hobbies my family enjoys throughout the winter season. Horseback riding is available on most of the various state trails located in the area. Snowmobiling is an ideal winter sport in this region, containing thousands of miles of groomed trails that wind through the scenic bluffs and valleys. Cross-country skiing and downhill skiing with freshly groomed trails and hills offered in the area, while others that enjoy watching the Westby Ski Jump or take part in any of the other winter festivals that take place. On top of all the sport activities, there is hunting, ice fishing, and bird watching especially the bald eagles along the Mississippi River.

So you can see winter in the upper Mississippi River valley gives people unlimited opportunities to enjoy the holiday season. Watch the falling snow, sit around a warm fire, or just listen to the winds that whisper through-out the crisp winter air. I forgot to mention many people enjoy the quaint downtown stores that are unique to our area and galleries that are located along the beautiful Mississippi River towns.

Now add in the low interest rates that are available, along with motivated sellers, and this may just be the perfect time for you to take advantage and find a great piece of real estate, so you can start making tomorrows dreams your families memories.

Caring expertise...knowledge for you!

Great post...you are very wise to always point out the stellar options available to one, regardless of time of year/weather report (in this case, the fact that "everything" is visible to the onlooker.    Also, winter sports!).

Welcome to Active Rain Eric ! Most new members do not post a blog for quite some time. Congratulations. We joined at the end of this November, primarily for the outside blog feature…but a major side benefit is seeing what some amazingly talented agents around the country are doing. We tried to get up to speed fast by to checking out the blogs of the AR staff…starting at the archives and reading forward. The “ambassadors” write good stuff as well. We look forward to reading more of your posts. Best wishes.

Fall and winter are some of the best times to look at vacant land in my opinion.  Simply being able to see it all makes a big difference.
