Yes, it's Christmas time! It has suddenly gotten cold in Payson, and it feels more like Christmas. "Magic on the Mountain" is the phrase the town uses for Christmas celebrations- we are 5,000 ft elevation, so we are "up the mountain" from the Arizona deserts. Come join the fun!
Today (Saturday, Dec. 5th) is an annual "toys for tamales" event- bring a new toy to Gerardo's Restaurant on Beeline, for a plate of tamales (10 am to 2 pm).
Tonight is the Electric Light Parade. This goes down Main Street, starting from Sawmill Crossing shopping center (so named because there used to be a working sawmill on the site) at Beeline Hwy and Main Street at 6pm. It ends up at the Green Valley Lake park for a town Christmas tree lighting
Yes, it will be COLD, so make sure to bundle up!
Tomorrow (Sunday, Dec. 6th) afternoon there is a Christmas Extravaganza- The Spirit of Christmas, at the Payson HS auditorium- 4pm and again at 6pm. Free, but please bring canned goods for the town food drive.
UPDATE- the Electric light parade was COLD, but pretty. There were near 50 entries, I believe. The Home Depot float was GORGEOUS! I forgot my camera, as usual. I hope to get to the CHristmas program tonight, BUT the AZ Cardinals football game starts at 6:30, so I may have to go alone.
Here is a link to a list of activities for Christmas in Payson.
