Was I Featured or Not?

I am confused!!

I wrote a post that apparently was featured..  Other people thought it was featured - they congratulated me.  On my home page it said-Featured Posts -1. Now I will be honest -  I didn't really think much about being Featured until it happened.  Then I was excited, told my husband, bragged to my kids.

But the next day, when I expected to see that Gold Star,  it said Featured Posts-0.  Wow, I didn't know how much I really cared until they took it away. But I thought oh well not a big deal.  Then it came back, Featured Posts  -1.  I went to blogs, clicked on Featured and there I was!!  OKAY, now I know my Gold Star will be there.  Or NOT.  Now I lost the Featured Posts - I'm back to zero.

Please somebody explain.  I am so confused!  How do featured posts really work?

One of the ways I see how many featured posts someone has is to check that little star in the comments section.  So leave a response to my comment and then hover over your star.  If it doesn't show your 1 featured post then I'm not sure what happened. Good luck!

Hi, Dawn. I think it's a glitch in the system. I know exactly how you feel. I have had five "featured posts" but, when I commented on others' posts, there wss no gold star under my picture. I used the "Contact Us" feature to query Active Rain and I got a response that said "Fixed!"

I suggest that you do the same. Feels so good, doesn't it, that you want ANOTHER?! Keep at it and best of luck!

This happened to me as well.  Send an email to Brad Anderson and he will be able to fix it.

This is the link to your featured post.

By the way, I've had two featured posts but I can't see a star under my photo above.  Weird.

Hi Dawn...  When I looked at your blog and saw your post http://activerain.com/blogsview/1363517/let-s-hope-short-sales-become-more-timely it certainly looks featured to me.  I really don't think anyone "took it away" but I have noticed that there are sometimes technology glitches in the badges.  If you have a question on whether the post is featured, I have found the most accurate and consistent way to check is to look at the bottom of the specific post in your blog.

I guess my question would be what exactly constitutes a featured post...I have had one with a little star at the end of the post and the same thing would happen to me in my profile...I guess I would really like to know what the criteria is to get a gold star under your picture when commenting.  I don't feel that I've done anything yet to deserve one...just curious.

Nick -I feel like you. I love ActiveRain, the free sharing of information and the great camaraderie.  I really wasn't looking to be a featured post - but it sure felt good.  I am still learning alot....like how to get the little pictures to fit where I want them to go.  And how do people get the colored fonts and highlight stuff?  I don't see those functions when I write.

I have so much to learn!!!!!

I had one too... rather time sensitive asking for suggestions.  I didn't want the feature for points or anything else but the extra exposure would have been nice.

Dawn...

I see WidowMaker (Bob) made it over here. He's probably the one that let the rats that ate your gold out of the cage :)

Dawn,

My featured post count is always off.  Sometimes my homepage says 8 and sometimes it says 5.  It's a quirky AR thing.
