First Snow--the picture I didn't take

Season's First Snow Today!!!

My Saturday schedule called for me to venture further south than my usual real estate stompings, and to "show" property in the Chambersburg, Waynesboro and Greencastle area, a neighboring MLS not my own. All homes were not so hard jaunts off Route 81, and all listing agents were super helpful with the showing set-ups.

I always start relaxing when I get into farm country. Red Barns, do you know how  extra charming you look dusted as if with flour? Dear Camera, why were you in my back seat?--but then, my clients were following me in their truck, and quite rightly may not have understood my photo ops as relevant to their home search.

Despite the bit of anxiety arising from driving midst falling snow on not- so- familiar roads, the time was a reminder of how beautiful Pennsylvania is, and how much a nerve saver my GPS is.

On return trip northward (Dear Camera, you're now in the front seat!)--but I seem to have too many trucks and fast moving vehicles nearby to attempt to capture the dramatic black and white corridor before me of silvery trees, white fields, snowy highway and streaming chains of headlights in this 4 o'clock Saturday vignette that could be surgically implanted into some great black and white movie that no one will ever make, though I'm quite sure that had they done so, it would have won an Oscar!

Nancy, We had our first snow yesterday.  Wait a minute we live in Houston and it snowed!!  It didn't stick but brought back memories of living in Colorado.

Wow, Marchel, Snow in Texas?  Didn't know that that happened!  And to think that you beat Pennsylvania.  Do we need to rethink global warming???

We will be visiting Family over Christmas. There will be guaranteed snow in the mountains. We love choosing when we are exposed to snow.

We're going down to the 40's tonight, and heard about that strange snow in Houston. Maybe it really is getting to be winter (after MANY months of air-conditioning!). As a native Pennsylvanian, I'll remember the beatiful snowy landscapes and be glad I'm not driving in it :)

Vickie,

"Choosing "when we are exposed to snow"--a concept that I must now ponder that I really hadn't thought about the luxury of being able to ponder.  This does sound very user friendly!.  I think I could lvoe that!!!

My experience of when one is "exposed to snow" coincides with the day of the most iffy, far-off closing followed by a listing appointment in an obscure mountainous area and crowned by very far apart showings in ones least familair area.

Shoshana,

"We're going down to the 40's tonight--this sounds too wonderful--my geraniums would be saved and thriving!!!  Do remember the snowy landscapes.  Ironically, my buyer today was from Florida originally, and while he doesn't over-embrace the colder weather, he cherishes how seasons are experienced here.

Oh, Harry, thank you so much for getting the hot chocolate ready.  It goes without saying that it will be served in a bone china cup from an heirloom silver pot?   If not, Starbucks, nay local quality gas station purveyor conveyed with goodwill shall do nicely.  And thank you so much for stopping by.

Hi Nancy!  I'll tell you, I feel like I'm 'nude' without my camera!  If I leave home without it, I'm lost all day!  I've often thought of buying another one just to keep in my car at all times!

Have a great Tuesday...

Debe,

How true! How can it be that that camera casually slung about one's neck can seem so excessively "there" at times, and so "can't believe I did'nt bring it" at other times?

Trusting that you will be warmer than our next (three times is definitively not the charm, as we're already going on 4 or 5) 6 inches or more snow,

Ann,

Thank you very much for stopping by.  Yes, it is "suddenly spring" here in central Pa.  It is frightening how fast it comes on.  Seems like there's a cosmic time warp between "methinks these buds are almost ready to come out--to full bloom for a moment--to drifts of blossoms flurrying in the wind like a second snow.

Hi Nancy, I'm like Debe, I try to keep my camera handy all the time too. But like you, sometimes you just can't stop to take the picture. I love the countryside. Even though I think Tennessee is the most beautiful, whatever state I'm in seems to have it's own super beautiful countryside. :)

Shannon,

Thank you ever so much for the kindly-intentioned prod--coming from SMARTGIRL the natural Naples, Florida Go to Girl no less, I shall have to get real and get back and post! My other Heroine, Ardelld would concur--she says that if you haven't posted at least 20-something posts, you don't even have a blog.

Amazing - first snow?  I thought I saw snow on Mt Charleston (in Vegas view) Tuesday when we had sun for a minute.  I will have to wait for the clouds to clear to confirm it!  That would be one early snow for our closest snow area since I can remember (I have lived here for 13 years!)

Renee,

Thank you so much for stopping by. Shamefacedly I must admit that this is a post left . . . uh, . . . last year. I am guilty of blog abandonment, but am now hoping to resurrect--inspired by wonderfully rich blogsites such as your own.  I am working on getting a wordpress blog up and running and have several posts in process for Active Rain.

Nancy: You did such a good job describing the landscape that I didn't even need a photo.  Sounds so beautiful and a dusting of snow is icing on the cake.
