It's Time to Deck the Halls - what are your family traditions?

Cranberries can be used in decoratingWe always have a live tree. Sometimes it has a root ball and we plant it later and other times it is cut from a tree farm. Either way, the smell of a real pine tree definintely sets the stage for decorating. With a roaring fire in the fireplace and a round of hot chocolate for the entire family, we decorate the tree with memorabilia -- the license plat from my childhood bike, the dog tag from our first family pet, ornaments made in school and other markers of a life shared and good times remembered. Our tree always makes me smile. There is nothing coordinated or trendy about it.

On the total other end of the spectrum, we are fortunate to have several Interior designers who have shared decorating tips with us for how to have a beautifully designed home.

For those interested in decorating with nature, find out more from Donna Mathis at DMD Design in here post at Atlanta Real Esate Forum on this hot trend.

Our family is quite large and difficult to get together for any occasion, BUT, without fail, every Christmas EVE, we all assemble at one of our designated homes to spend a few hours together as a group to celebrate the season.

Hi Carol, I can't say my family had that many traditions, especially once we all grew up, but I can tell you that being from Hawaii meant Christmas with sand in your toes, and now I absolutely LOVE Christmas in the mountains with the ever-present possibility of snow!
