Hi Folks, its time again for the Kansas City Sourthern Holiday Express. This is the ninth annual run. This year it will go through 22 communities in 8 states, including Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas and Illinois. Access to the Holiday Express train is free and open to the public.
These pictures were taken in Edna Texas about 3:00pm on December 5th, 2009.
This train has two cute cabooses. You don't see many cabooses anymore.
They also had a cute gingerbread man car.
I think Santa stepped away to deliver some gifts.
The Kansas City Southern Holiday Train engine has lights all over it. It must be spectacular at night.
In addition to bringing Santa Claus and his elves to many communities, the Holiday Express also has a charitable component. At each scheduled stop, The KCS Charitable Fund will make a contribution of Walmart gift cards to the local Salvation Army to provide warm clothing for children in need. Thanks to contributions from KCS' employees, vendors and friends, The KCS Charitable Fund raised $112,825 in 2009 to purchase gift cards.
