Is That A Squirrel in Your Feeder or Are You Just Happy to See Me in Maggie Valley?

Yesterday was the first day in 2009 when snow fell and stuck in Maggie Valley. Didn't deter this squirrel! I see there’s something growing inside the now-empty feeder…

The photo below was taken earlier this morning (Sunday) in Maggie Valley, looking out over what is left of yesterday's snow. Temperature was 22 degrees on my deck earlier this morning.

My intent was to read a blog that sounded to be informative and educational, but saw your headline and couldn't resist!!! Great picture... leave it alone and see what you have in the spring, then plant it toward the back of your yard, and you'll have the biggest bird feeding area in the area!

Your photos are great. Maggie Valley is a wonderful place and I visit your area when I can. I hope you enjoyed the snow. I would love to have been there to see it.

Good Morning Susie,

The first is always wonderful. When I was growing up, it often would happen on Thanksgiving Day. I think I know what this squirrel was thinking as he sits looking at this feeder. : "Now what am I going to do, I know I put them here.... damn it is cold"

Good pic Susie.  We were hoping for a dusting of snow around Greensboro, but it was just rain.

Susie, I had a bird feeder in my yard for awhile. . .BUT I was feeding more squirrels than birds.  They can be so innovative in their raids:-)

Those darned squirrels can get into almost anything! I know my husband has tried everything to keep them out of his precious Canary Island Date Palm. LOL I think he finally gave up.

With all that snow the little fellow is probably thinking everything is fair game.  The few that hang around in our back yard all winter eat more than our son did when he was a teenager... or so it seems.

Suise ~ You got more snow than we did over the mountain.  Just a dusting and melted here.  I always tell my buyers just as soon as you hit Cowee mountain EXPECT MORE SNOW

Susie,  great photos.  We got our first snow yesterday-it didn't last, but we are supposed to be in for a little snow and ice tomorrow.

Susie - It looks a little colder in your neck of the woods. I think that guy just wanted breakfast.

There's a peacefulness about a snowy landscape.  And something refreshing about the abundance of wildlife that remind us how they flourish in all circumstances.
