Red Lodge Christmas Stroll - This Year's Most Memorable Holiday Character!

As I am getting ready to post the photos of the second night of the Christmas, I wanted to share this year's most memorable holiday character strolling on main street.   Normally that would be Santa.  But this year, I believe this Saint Bernard takes the honors.   Since many of you commented on his good looks in my previous post (Red Lodge Christmas Stoll - A Couple of Photos of December 4, 2009), I decided to feature him in this post while you wait for the post with the photos of the second night of the Red Lodge Christmas Stroll.

Please don't drool too much while you wait for my next post on this year's Christmas Stroll in Red Lodge.   :-)

Stay tuned for more photos of the Christmas Stroll!  Woof!

Fun fact: A Punch magazine cartoon from 1949 depicts a man with a Saint Bernard and several puppies, all of which are wearing neck casks. The man explains, "Of course, I only breed them for the brandy."

Hi Gerry, the dog looks just like Beethoven from the Disney movie of the same name.  Did you check the cask?  Propably Diet Coke.

Al and Peggy,

No, I did not get too close to check the cask.   he was standing in front of a bar later that evening.   Not sure if he needed a refill (whether it was brandy or Diet Coke).

Tony and Darcy,

No, even if the first photo looks like it was taken at floor level, no, I did not need any first aid.  I intentionally took the photo from that level in order to get the horse and carriage in the background.  :)

Paul,

I actually used sepia and iot odes seem like it gave him a ghost of an appearance.  I hope you have been good and that you are not thinking of having a ghostly visit in time for Christmas.   :)

Valesca,

Whether it is a drool, a paw, or a lick, it sure is good to know that it does not take much to love and be loved by our canine pets.  :)

Great looking dog you have!

Great looking Dog.  I've always loved big dogs.  My son now has an 8 months old English Mastiff that is weighing 105 lbs already.  Probably 5 lbs of that is drool.  I also got a big laugh from the comment on breeding St Benards.  We also have a Christmas Stroll here in Georgetown Tx.  It started out years ago as a parade of pets and owners wearing seasonal costumes.  Merry Christmas

Mike,

Merry Christmas to you too and happy upcoming Christmas stroll!  I have 3 medium size dogs (they weight 35 lbs for the growing puppy to 55 lbs for the oldest one).  They all have had a post featuring them separately on AR as well as a few where they appear as a trio.  I am sure your son's English Mastiff will weigh more than all of mine combined when he gets to be an adult dog.   I smiled when you said 5 lbs of the weigh is from the drool.   I am glad you enjoyed the first comment.  :)

That dog is almost as big as the horses. In fact, I think it is even bigger than me!

Happy Holidays!

Jim,

The angle from which I took the photo in the first photo sure makes him look as big if not bigger than the two horses.  I am not sure he is bigger than you but he sure is many time bigger than Zoe!   :)
