Generation X

I ran across this recent gem of an article about the recession intensifying GenX discontent at work from the AP.  For those of you who are wondering what age group GenX represents, it’s us 32 to 44 year olds who are wedged between the Baby Boomers and their children.

The article talks a lot about GenXpectations [...Click Here To Read The Rest On IdeaBox]

Jason, thanks for the post.  We're an interesting generation...often linked in with the Baby Boomers, but we're really not.  We've been called the "Tweeners," since we're between the X'ers and the Boomers (1960-1965 roughly).

Great post! At age 32, I am often a floater between Gen X and Gen Y - depending on which article I'm reading. I think Gen X'ers are a bit more scared to take control of their own lives (because they grew up with their parent's working 9 to 5 for the Man) and Gen Y feels they deserve to be in control of their own lives. I just recently decided to take the plunge and quit my job to start up my own business (ForSaleByTxt.com) and am loving every minute of it! This post really hit the nail on the head about making people question if they are doing all they can to make their future their own. Love it!

Jenn - I'm right there with you, 33 here.  I can relate to both camps.  Your company sounds exciting!  A really cool idea.  Thanks so much for the kind words and the support!

At 45, I relate much more closely to the X'ers than the boomers. Gen X describes the cusp but I am ion the cusp of the cusp! I still skateboard, surf, and listen to the latest alternative music. Stuff the boomers never even did when they were young.
