Advertising your waterfront listings - what's your technique?

Services for Real Estate Pros with Goomzee Corporation

This weekend I spent my time on Northwest Montana's beautiful Flathead Lake.  As we all know, a beautiful lake with easy access means lots of visitors and lots of people who would LOVE to live on it, or rent for a weekend vacation for that matter.  Either way, a lot of traffic up and down the shorelines, often out of towners visiting the popular Montana sites.

My mum, dad and I were driving past a waterfront listing and noticed for one, that the sign was difficult to read, and two, the only information available on the house was a phone number for contact.

Every now and then we've seen listings with flyer boxes.  Now that's another story...  Of course I'm always the guinea pig for this kind of stuff.  We have been known to drive up to docks (maybe even bump into depending on the wave size, which I'm sure makes the owner not so happy) and attempt to pick up a flyer; one time retreiving and bringing back to the boat only to have it blow away, along with my towel, radio other things at the bottom of that lake!  Sometimes we fail to remove items from deck when attempting to tack!  Two other times I have made my treturous journey to flyer boxes, only to find them empty!

This is a lake that many Western Montanan's could only dream of obtaining a home on... but to some who've made it their life goal, and also to those lucky vacationers that have extremely enjoyed their vacationing are definately potential propects of waterfront buyers and vacation renters.

As I was sitting in the boat dreaming (and burning!) I was thinking, what a great idea my companies product could be used for.

Goomzee Connect provides convenient access to instant information about a listings, delivered directly to a consumers mobile phone upon request.  For example, I could have whipped out my handy cell phone, typed in the unique Goomzee Connect ID code, listed on the sign rider, and sent it via text message to our nationwide short-code.  Once I sent my inquiry, I would have instantly received a text message in response, containing information about the listing as well as the sellers contact information.  It's information stored in my phone, that I can look back at and remember where it was, who the seller was, and what the listing included.  Similar to what a flyer provides.

The seller would have been notified of my request and chosen to follow-up with me on their time-frame, right away or next week after their 4th of July rest and relaxation!  Either way, they have my phone number and know that I could potentially be interested.  The great benefit of Goomzee's web admin besides capturing lead contact information, is that it's a way to track traffic looking at and inquiring information about listings.

Although I'm still young and covering my college debt and may not be able to afford an immaculate house quite yet, my rich, retired uncle in Ohio may be, therefore, my text message would be forwarded on to him to look at :)

True story, so I thought I would share my experience and provide you with some other ideas for marketing your waterfront listings.  I'll be back there next weekend for some sunshine and summertime fun!
