Arizona Road Trip from Peoria to Mesa during the Rain Storm

It was a 165 mile journey on my Monday road trip to see a high school friend who was visiting for just a few days. Normally, I would have pulled the covers over my head and gone back to bed on a rainy day.

I waited for all the morning rush to end and took off for Mesa.  It rained steadily but not a downpour the whole way. My path was Vistancia Blvd to Happy Valley Rd. to Hwy 17 to the loop 101 to the 202 East to Brown Rd.  The 202 had some additional improvements made to it and I did take a 14 mile detour of my own making.

The reunion with my friend from Valparaiso, Indiana was non-stop talking, story telling and picture taking event. Three hours later it is time to get back on the highways and journey home to Trilogy in Peoria, Arizona before the evening rush hours.

The trip home was in a driving rain starting at Shea Rd. & 101 most of the way home. I was pleasantly surprised that I did not see any aggressive drivers, no accidents and no slow downs on the entire trip.

When I watched the news coverage of all the wind damage, trees down, cars crunched, roofs torn off and general chaos, I was thankful that my Road Trip was a safe one and my reunion with a friend last seen in 1965, an excellent one.
