Emergency Dog Rescue - Brevard, NC (near Asheville and Hendersonville) - UPDATED

By
Real Estate Agent with Looking Glass Realty

UPDATE - 12/11

GREAT NEWS!  George and Gustav were reunited with their owners today, Giovanni and Biskit are in foster or rescue. The only one left is litte Gilligan. We think we have a rescue group in DC who can take him in January so we'll be looking for a foster home to look after him until then. I'm thinking that foster home may be us!

Thanks for everyone's comments, reblogging, and support!

How is this possible that these dogs cannot find good homes? So sad.

That is really sad that they can't find homes. I don't understand why animal shelters don't take advantage of dog farms or something like that.

Sometimes it is more than I can stand! Dogs don't stay long at our animal shelter. They're given about a week or so, and that's it. It's a terrible situation and only through the help of a vast number of volunteers are we able to find homes for some. It truly breaks my heart.

Hello Carol,

What a heartbreaking post.....I will gladly reblog and help spread the word to help save these 5 dogs lives.  It's ashame that your animal shelter in Brevard, NC does not keep them longer than a week or so.  I truly hope these dogs can be rescued, fostered or adopted & euthanasia is not the outcome for them.  So sad....

Rita

Thank you Rita - it's criminal, really. A group of volunteers has been working for years to get a new shelter. The money has been allocated by the County, we just need to find the land. But there needs to be a shift in the way they think as well. The shelters in the surrounding counties are either no kill...or low kill. Dogs in this county don't stand a chance. But I blame the owners as well. George was left behind when his owners moved! Who does that! I'm actually thinking about taking George in...even if just as a foster home until we can find a full time place.

Thank you again for reposting this.
