This morning the housing market numbers were released, shedding some optimism about the national real estate industry.  Of particular notice, the news is especially good for the western region of the United States.

In southern California, listing inventory numbers are down 54%, for the San Francisco region, listings are down 52%, and for the hard-hit desert region, Las Vegas shows its listing inventory is down 50%.  All of these numbers were comparisons from 2008.  So what does this mean?

Practically speaking, it means people are reacting with less fear and there are some more potential buyers, especially in the markets mentioned previously.

Jump-starting these very hard-hit areas of the past few years will boost various real estate economies throughout the United States.  For Colorado Springs Realtors and how this information relates to the Colorado Springs Real Estate market, I expect to see an increase in relocation buyer activity over the next year.  As far as our local listing inventory, numbers are reasonable and values of homes are fairly stabilized.
