Oconomowoc Youth Sports Programs

By

New to the area and trying to figure out where to go for your child's sports?  I have a 12-year old boy who has been very involved in sports in Oconomowoc since he was probably 3-4 years old.  He has participated in programs both at the YMCA at Pabst Farms as well as through the Park and Rec.  As a 7th grader, he is also able to participate in basketball through his school - Nature Hill Intermediate http://www.oasd.k12.wi.us/page.cfm?p=3029

If you are interested in youth football, basketball and baseball, check out the YMCA at Pabst Farms.  http://www.ymcaatpabstfarms.org/  The YMCA at Pabst Farms also offers swimming lessons, rock climbling, child care plus much more!

Looking for a "select" baseball program for your child?  Then you will want to check out the Oconomowoc Area Baseball Club at http://www.oconomowocareabaseballclub.org/  Tryouts for the teams are usually in August/September following the end of  the season.  Tryouts for the 2010 teams have already taken place, however, you can still contact the organization to see if there is availability.

For the 5th thru 8th grade kids, there is also tackle football.  Usually registration takes place in January for the year that is being played.  There has been a slight change this year in the administration of the program.  I will update my blog when I get the information to pass along.

For soccer enthusiasts, the Oconomowoc Soccer Association website is located at http://www.oconomowocsoccer.com/  They offer Spring and Fall soccer.  Check them out too!

There are so many great activities for our kids to be involved in.  Hopefully you will be able to find something for your kid(s) that meets your needs!

Terri,

I never thought I would see the 5 O's represented her on Active Rain.  So they paved over the corn fields at Pabst Farms for a YMCA? when?  is Olympia still there?

Hi Paul!  How neat that you know about the 5 O's!  What's the connection?  Pabst Farms is a newer development here in Oconomowoc...It contains a new school/YMCA/residential developments including single family and side by side condos/retail/hospital...It's pretty amazing...Olympia is still here...They are selling their condos, still offering golf and skiing...along with tennis...

You must be from the area?  Lucky to be in Arizona right now...it's extremely cold here!

Hi Fernando~I've realized that a lot of newcomers to the area really struggle with finding out certain information...such as the sports...Football sneaks up on a lot of people as the registration is usually in January...We, as residents of Oconomowoc, almost missed it the first year and we have lived here almost 20 years!  Have a great rest of the year!
