Problems with the Real Estate Industry
When I was a child, I used to play this game called "Lemmings." A Lemming was a little creature that would walk in the direction that all of his comrades would walk. They would follow one another until ultimtely they would all fall off a cliff, in the the ocean, or just get stuck behind a rock and a wall. This is a problem. The point of this game would be to manuver items on the map to make these little creatures head into their goal. If you did nothing they would run into their demise and their buddies would follow.
As I think about this game, it is much like the Real Estate Community. I very much respect my fellow Realtors, their brokers, and our affiliates. However, I see a trend that happens time and time again. Realtors can be like Lemmings. . . following their comrades. . doing the same things over and over and over again fearing anything that is different and ultimately not reach their full potential. I have heard "failure" be defined as "someone not missing the mark, but running out of their potential." The definition of potential has been defined as "capable of being or becoming." Most agents are capable of being successful and either lack the $$ or mental drive to become great.
I have a solution for both those problems.
