At this year Sports Award Banquet which was held on December 10th in Murphy NC, my son Ryan was awarded The GT Award (Bill Graves & Raymond Trantham). This award is given annually to the football player who best demonstrate the character of these two gentleman.
Both Bill and Raymond were outstanding students and football players in the late 60's. After they graduated Murphy HS both served their country in the Vietnam Conflict. 1st Lieutenant William Graves served in the Army and died in combat in 1970. Lance Corporal Raymond Trantham served in the Marine Corps and he also died in combat in 1968.
This award exemplifies the Duty, Honor, Courage, Commitment, Integrity and Service that both Bill and Raymond displayed for their Country.
Ryan will be graduating High School in June and he has committed to The Marine Corps. I am so proud of him!!!!!!
