There is nothing more glamorous than a wide array of movie stars and movies all within the same venue at the same time. This is precisely what you will find in Palm Springs from January 5-18, 2010 as the 21st Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival will take place. It is always a good time with tremendous movies and an aura of excitement filling the air.
This year's event plans to be just as thrilling and exciting as previous years with a stellar line-up of movies and events to take place. In all you can expect to find more than 175 featured films from over 60 countries. There will be special events and gala receptions to make note of as well.
The film festival will honor Anna Kendrick with the Rising Star Award for her magnificent performance in Up in the Air at the
Festival's annual Awards Gala. The Awards Gala will start the grand event taking place on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 and will be presented by Cartier. The Awards Gala will be held at the Palm Springs Convention Center and will be hosted by "Entertainment Tonight's" Mary Hart.
Another tremendous actor that will be honored at the festival is Morgan Freeman, who will be presented with the Career Achievement Award for Acting. Festival chairman Harold Matzner said it will be an honor to present Hollywood legend Morgan Freeman with the award. He went on to say Freeman has been in numerous performances that will forever be remembered, including his role as Nelson Mandela in Invictus.
Finally, it was recently announced that singer, songwriter, actress and record producer Mariah Carey will be presented with the Breakthrough Performance Award for her performance in Lionsgate's Precious. The movie is based on the Novel "Push" by Sapphire and already has critics raving.
Tickets to the 21st Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival are available and can be purchased. Regular individual screening tickets start at $11 for general admission and $10 for matinee, which includes screenings that start before 3 p.m. If you would like to attend talking pictures programs or panel discussions general admission starts at $11.
The much anticipated Opening Night Gala that will be held at Palm Springs High School will run at $60 a pop with the Opening Night Gala party immediately following the screening. The closing night screening and wrap party will cost you $50 with the wrap party following the screening. Finally, you can purchase general admission tickets for Gala Film screenings with special guests for $12 and $25 for the screening and reception.
This is one event of the year you do not want to miss out on. With movie stars, move premiers, and an incredible line-up prepared for viewers, it is set to be just as thrilling as the previous 20 years of festivals.
