Dreadful....The state of some Atlanta homes.

I mean I have seen it before, but never like this.  What was once beautiful neighborhoods with lovely homes that have become Atlanta Metro's eyesores and shame.  I let my imagination roll for a moment and thought of the family who first owned the home and the neighbors and thought what it must have been like.  I had to open my eyes at some point only to see the travesty and disgrace this one fantastic home has now become.  We know the problems, but what is the solution?  I have heard everything, some good, some rediculous, but truly nothing followed through on.  I really think that instead of the builders chopping down the forest to make more subdivisions, maybe we should allow them to bring a wrecking ball to some of these abandoned homes and give these neighborhoods a new start, maybe give incentives to contractors to rehab the ones that can be saved or maybe force a mandatory homeowners association for the city and force the neighborhoods that are decreasing to take better care of their property.  I really have no answer but if someone would like to chime in, you would be welcome.

Well, maybe not the wrecking ball!  In Washington, many former eyesores with great architectural character and good bones are being beautifully restored in many downtown neighborhoods.  It's been really amazing to watch.
