Is There a Ghost in the House? Feng Shui on Long Island - New York

About one in five of our Feng Shui calls for Feng Shui Consultations from Long Island or New York City come from someone concerned about Spirit Activity. Laura Cerrano is my daughter and has been doing on site Feng Shui Consultations with me and without me since 2000. Since formally beginning her own Feng Shui business http://www.FengShuiManhattan.com on both Long Island and New York City, we don't often get to practice together as much.

Yet there is no denying that about one in five calls or emails we receive regarding a Feng Shui Consultation both on Long Island AND New York City are from potential clients concerning "ghosts." Spirit or Paranormal Activity. We've both been in homes where noises occur, lights flicker, there are "cold spots" and on rare occasions we have actually seen SOMETHING. Since we are both highly attuned to Energy, these are the Feng Shui Consultations we like to work on together.

One question we are often asked is if "Ghosts" or "Spirits" can attach; meaning can they follow them if they move or even if it's possible for us, as Feng Shui Practitioners to bring them into OUR Spaces. According to both Parapsychologists and Feng Shui Consultants, the answer is yes, it IS possible that a Spirit can attach to you.

While training in Feng Shui Studies on Long Island, New York City or Sedona AZ (for a shamanistic approach to Feng Shui) we are specifically taught methods both before and after a Feng Shui Consultation so this doesn't happen to us. While some of these methods take a while to perform, they are important for both our clients AND ourselves.

A recent email was from a client who was determined to move but afraid of bringing this activity WITH her-the very thing she was moving to get away FROM. She wanted to know if we would be able to help her to move into a new space safely. And ALONE.

Laura and I both worked with her together and I'm thrilled to say she made her transition into her new home where she feels nothing but good and supportive Energy. She is sleeping and eating well and feels a sense of peace she'd forgotten had existed. She credits her Feng Shui Consultation here on Long Island NY.

Some things don't belong in your home or business. People are sometimes afraid to speak of these things still while others still insist they don't exist. I can assure you they do. And I can assure you this IS help.....

Hi Carole...I have never really had this experience but I will try not to leave my spirit behind to trouble anyone when I no longer live in this house. We designed and built it so it is very near and dear to us but once someone else lives here I will need to relinquish it.

Carole-The thought never even occured to me that, that might even be a problem. When you watch tv and people move because they have trouble with spirits in a house you never think that they could or would move with you. What a creepy thought. I agree with Craig-what an interesting job you have!

Carole - You and Laura both must be so proud of what you do together when you're working with clients that have these types of experiences. I've heard of ghosts and spirits in homes but never realized that they could attach themselves to you. Your clients are very fortunate to have you on their side.

Hi Carole, So interesting... I previously wrote an article about one of our tenants that moved because she was certain the house was haunted. We had never had any similar concerns with past tenants over the last 8 years, nor have we had anything similar with the new tenant in place. This woman was terrified, as she felt the ghost was trying to strangle her daughter. But, she had a great deal of heartache and troubles in her life recently and unfortunately I think that this negative energy had attached itself to her.

I firmly believe that spirits can attach themselves to you and it is usually because they have a message for you or want to help you in some way.

I've heard of one family who moved three times and each time a spirit moved with them and one of my clients, an elderly lady, sold her house and moved to an apartment and insists that Clyde, the ghost, came with her.

We had a friendly ghost when I rented a flat in San Francisco. Seemed to be one of those spirits that like to play jokes on people.. I missed the spirit when I moved... this is one ghost I would have liked to attach....

Kate, I don't think most of us linger behind but I do believe we leave energetic "foot prints." It's nice for a someone to move into a new home or business that they have claimed as their own.

Craig, It is very cool that Laura and I can work together on occasion. Our clients enjoy it as well and we all end up having a good time as well as a good consultation.

Debra, I have been asked that question quite often and thought I would address it here. I do believe they can attach and how NOT to allow that to happen is taught in Feng Shui Classes.

Donna, It's not a pleasant thought although it's believed to be possible. I was taught about this in Parapsychology but it went into much more depth in Feng Shui Studies.

Sandy, It is possible from what I know and I do know consultants who sometimes will not go into a home because of this. I remember the Amityville "Horror" house and the Lutz family saying it had followed them. We are taught protections.

Deena, I am amazed myself at how many calls there are for what people believe to be Spirit Energy....I suspect it's the land here with all the fighting that has occured over the years......

Jo, I believe her....Some people think that all spirits are Evil which they aren't...some are just (I believe) some lost souls that are stuck here for one reason or another.

Teri, We experience this type of Energy often. Many people feel, hear or see something and feel threatened by it. It's interesting to me that people are being referred to Feng Shui Consultants now for this by doctors. I didn't see that day coming but many of them believe as well.

Morgan, We've dealt with "spirit energy" in apartments and condos in New York City. There is one famous apartment house in the City that is well known for it's "ghostly" activities!

Joan, One of my clients has a ghost she does not want removed...it is a child. She and her whole family see this little boy who is always sitting on her stairs. I convinced her to allow him to move on.

janeAnne, Thank you! Funny that I believe unless it's happened to you, most people still don't believe in spirits!

Jackie, Some of my clients don't feel threatened but others do, depending on the Energy and what is occuring. No one should have to live this way and they don't need to.

Carole - Fascinating topic! I'm quite certain that spirits can attach and move with you! I recall a family with a 12 year old boy that moved from one home, and the spirit in the old house, moved right along with them to their new home. It seemed to be attached to the boy, but not in a bad way!

Hello Carole,

I have had many experiences from childhood to adulthood and I am so glad that when we moved to Southern Maryland 16 years ago, our home is spirit energy free. Some of the experiences that I had in my younger years, gave me the creeps. Something you just do not ever forget! My husband has never experienced any supernatural events & he thinks I am a little whacky with my personal stories of ghostly encounters. One becomes a believer when one experiences them. This is understandable.

You are so lucky to have a daughter in the same business as you! How wonderful!
