Help a Realtor find the perfect wedding location!

Okay, I know this is not your typical request on active rain but, I'm calling on all my colleagues for help. Everyone knows a Realtor but, does every Realtor know the perfect wedding location? I sure hope so because I'm running out of time. I have found the most wonderful man in the world but, I can't seem to find the location to marry him. The wedding is supposed to take place in September which also happens to be hurricane season. We would love to get married someplace warm and by the water. This is a second marriage for both of us so we want a very private, affordable and intimate ceremony. So where do you suggest? Any and all specific information would be greatly appreciated!

Curious about why I am having such a difficult time making a decision? Well, in the past year and a half I have retired from a lengthy teaching and coaching career, moved from the only state (Maryland) I've ever lived in, packed, moved and stored the entire contents of my home into numerous storage units, moved to Northern Virginia and in with my fiance', searched, found and negotiated the purchase of our dream home, pursued three new and very different careers finally finding my niche with a highly energetic and successful real estate team (TEAM LONI). Today I can be found highlighting our clients' homes so they stand out in this saturated buyers market and working with others to find their dream home or rental. I would greatly appreciate a breather from another stressful yet wonderful decision! Can you help me find that perfect wedding location?

Loni,

How about the beach down here in Florida.  We have very nice beaches and great hotels where you can have the wedding and the reception at reasonable prices.  Are you looking for spectacular then how about Disney?

Loni,

Why not have your wedding in Ocean City, MD.  If your wedding is after Labor Day weekend, you can have a beautiful wedding on the beach without the crowds, without a lot of kids and much lower rental costs than what you would pay during tourist season.  You should still have sunshine and nothing could be sweeter than having the ocean at your doorstep. The drive on the way would mellow you out.  Go with your fiancee and make the ride a date.  If you stay closer to home, your reception menu could not only be pleasing to the eye, but sweet to the palate.  There are some great hotels on the beach with banquet/reception facilities and what could be better than some Maryland seafood on the menu.  Slip away to the EDGE in Fagers Island for your honeymoon and you will love that I sent you this response.   If you want Leis, just go to your local florist and create that Hawaiian Island honeymoon.  It wouldn't take long to pull this beautiful wedding off!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Loni,

I forgot to tell you that Virginia Beach would be great too!  The new Hilton Hotel is very nice and has an awesome 5 star restaurant. Maybe you could honeymoon in France.

The gazebo in Laguna Beach, California. My daughter was married there - beautiful! You can rent a beachside bungalow for a couple of nights before heading out for your honeymoon.

Congratulations Loni!

Since everyone else here is going to throw their locale into the list of possibilities, I will suggest my own.  Get married and spend your honeymoon on Madeline Island in Lake Superior!  The weather is still warm and pleasant in the Apostle Islands in September, and the tourist season winds down after Labor Day, so it would feel as if you have the Island to yourselves!  I recommend Woods Manor Bed & Breakfast Inn for the ceremony (Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston attended a wedding there five or six years ago).  It's a charming Victorian-style Inn with breathtaking views of Lake Superior from the terrace.  Spend your honeymoon in a lakeshore log home on the south shore of the Island (who knows, I might let you use MY place..) and charter a sailboat for a tour of the nineteenth-century historic Great Lakes lighthouses on the nearby Apostle Islands.  You'll love Lake Superior..no hurricanes, sharks, jellyfish, barracudas, tsunamis or mega-crowds of tourists!

Loni, even though it is hurricane season the chances are pretty slim you will have a problem in September in Mexico.  For my 2nd marriage we went to CanCun, and had a ceremony on the ocean.  It was beautiful.  In September most of the kids will be back in school.  There are many hotels that will help in planning the wedding. I have been to CanCun, Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas...All would be beautiful.  Hawaii is also another beautiful option, Maui is beautiful!  Good luck and Congrats!
