Take care 2009! Dont let the door hit u in the @$$! What did we learn?

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that 2009 was a total loss! Not by a long shot. I am saying that the further we get away from the bottom of this interesting thing we call the economic cycle the better off we will all be! Coming out of a year where record foreclosures, unemployment, banker's bonuses and begging all wrapped in the same 12 month period is not such a bad thing. Is it?

Now turn the page and start a fresh! A new day! A new market! A new opportunity to create unlimited enthusiasm for our clients in why now is the time.

I am going to make sure that 2010 is the year that was the beginning of greatest year in my business yet! The 1st year of the new decade...The 1 year of the greatest prosperity in modern times! The year of the Bull! Yes that's what I'll call it! It has a ring to it!! That settles it! I'm ready! Game face on, engines started, countdown initialized! Oh what the hell I'll pop the bubbly now! Oh wait let me not, I might spill some on the keyboard. I'll throw a party for everyone and give all my workers huge bonuses! Maybe go out borrow some money I don't have to pay back and buy everyone a car!

Oh wait a minute...Isn't that how we got into this mess in the 1st place!??? Isn't that what Greenspan warned me of long ago? Irrational Exuberance??? OK Well I will keep the enthusiasm but I will do it smarter! I WILL plan for the rainy days as they are sure to come once in a while. I will make sure that I don't get ahead of my skis or I may fall. I will live within my means and recommend my clients and friends do the same. OK I get it now it's up to me to be more responsible in contributing to the bigger picture without forgetting the smaller one. I think I have it. I think I learned the lesson. Did you? OK great so let's go and do it better and smarter than ever and not take one day or lesson for granted! Didn't someone old and dead once say "A smart person learns from his mistakes and a wiser person learns from the mistakes of others...

Only the Best,

Tom Re

I agree! 2009 was definitely a year with way too much going on! With that being stated, 2010 should be much easier to deal with! I like the title of your post too as well!

Tom - great post.  I'm soo ready to be done with 2009.   I'm looking forward to 2010.  Seems there are a lot of really negative people out there and I've made a vow to myself to distance myself from the negativity and surround myself with positive people.

Tom, I always tell my kids that we don't get to live long enough to learn everything from our own mistakes, that we should try to learn from other people's too.  It doesn't cost anything to listen to someone and learn.  I remember one or two bad markets ago a friend of mine had a sign over her desk... Dear Lord, please let the market come back and I promise not to piss it all away this time!
