Last night my wife and I were visiting some friends. They had their grandson there who is 5 years old. They put in a movie for him...It's a Wonderful Life...Very much a classic! Well, the grandson had never seen a Black and White movie before. He exclaimed..."Wow Grandma...Is this movie from back in the19's?"
I thought right away...I am going to use that when talking to my Grandkids and other young children...
Yea...I remember back in the Nineteen Hundreds... We had to walk to school 5 miles uphill both ways! We lived in a very poor area. The school only had 1 pencil and we all had to share it...all 15 of us and the teacher! Someone broke the pencil one day and the school closed for two days until a new one could be found!
Our TV was Black and White...and we had to get OFF the chair, go up to the TV and turn a knob to change the channel, of which we had 3 choices! Yea...the 1900's was a tough time to live in. You kids really have it made today.
The windows of our cars had to rolled down with a HAND CRANK!
Yea, and you had to be home to talk on the phone, which hung on the wall and you had to stand within 2 feet when you talked on it, that is when no one else of the 7-10 others families were not using it! Yup...those were the hard days!
I the 1900's, we had to push our lawn mowers across the yard, and you were lucky if it had a motor!!!
Our radios were AM and scratchy when you listened. When the portable radio's came out...WOW! We thought we had the world by the BUTT!!!
Yea, Yea...I remember Dad Selling the farm. Man how he complained about all the paperwork...ALL 2 PAGES OF IT!!!
Yup...Those 1900's were tough times...
