I was thinking the were mushrooms or some other fungus growth, but I can see the cypress knees. I've honestly only seen them in the swamp, so it would be covered by water except for the very tip.
Kathy
I would have never have guessed that.
Good luck and success.

I thought mushrooms, but I can also see aliens under the cover of darkness....very sci fi and futuristic.
Jim & Maria- They do look like a fungus growth, don't they.
Lou- this is out at Green Cay Wetlands on Hagen Ranch Road.
Sharon- Would have been a great Halloween shot!
Kathy, I was going to guess something growing in the ground...would have never guessed Cypress Knees.
Very interesting Kathy. Thanks for the link to wikipedia as I had never heard of Cypress Knees. I guess that I've seen them since I've been to the Everglades and other swampy areas. I would have guessed some kind of sprout that was deceived by a warming spell.
Rebecca-I'd never heard of Cypress Knees until I saw these.
Ginger- I like your guess of some kind of sprout. I find it interesting that there's a cottage industry crafting these into various art forms.
Interesting...they looked like some very bad onions to me:) Happy Holidays!
Bill, you're right, they do look somewhat like bad onions. Have a Happy Holiday!
hi Kathy, at first glace I thought burnt Bar-B-Q, I'm having a dumb blonde day. ;-) Happy Holidays!
Kathy ~ I wanted to guess.... I thought they were cypress... really. We have a park here called Cypress Creek. It is pretty facinating to see how these trees try to survive.
monique-Amazing aren't they? And, good guess!!!! I love the smell of the cypress as we walk through them on the boardwalk.
Kathy,
Cypres just sounds soothing! I loved your profile and think it is great you started with Barbie and Chatty Cahty! I look forward to seeing more fun stuff form you!
Hi Carra and Happy New Year. If you want something really soothing, get a pillow stuffed with dried cypress.
I saw a show last week-end about cypress kness. We have those here in Texas, too.
Freaky! I never saw such a thing! I need to get out of Jersey more often! LOL!
Very cool phenonmenon, Kathy! You had me guessing. I was going with a fungus of some sort, as well.
Kathy - I've never heard of Cypress Knees. We learn something every day! They looked like something out of a sci-fi movie!
To Shirley, Michele, Deena and Susan: I apologize for not responding to your comments. Very remiss on my part. A big belated thank you for commenting.
