Not-So-Speechless Sunday - Candy Canes and Slices of Apple Pie?

By
Education & Training

This is a photo I obtained when I was experimenting with the shutter speed of my digital camera.

The colorful lights that make up the shapes that you see are from the Christmas tree outside my house.

Candy Canes and Apple Pie - Happy Holidays from Red Lodge, Montana

As you can imagine, I did not use a tripod and I decided to move the camera while the shutter was taking the photo over a period of a few seconds.  However, the movement I did with the camera was random.  Hence, the surprise when I first viewed the photo on my computer.

In this case, the result seen on this photo was pure luck.

Do you see the candy canes and slices of apple pie?

Gerry, that is SO cool! I love how it looks like candy canes -- I can see the piece of pie -- or like Tony & Darcy said, PIZZA! :-)

Electric Eel - I have no clue why that came to my head.  Love the colors.  I see the candy canes and the triangular apple pie with cheese.  That's the way my dad likes his apple pie.  Hunk of cheddar on top.

Stephanie,

You made me smile with your comment.   I am sure somewhere in there, there is a photo you overlooked that could make a good piece of art and a great conversation piece.  :)

Tony & Darcy,

Pizza sounds delicious to me as the pieces of pie.   :)

Marney,

I guess it depends when you look at it.  If you look at it after you ate a main course, you most likely see dessert and candy canes.  If you look at it with a hungry stomach, chances are you see pizza and candy canes.  :)

Al and Peggy,

The shaking was intentional and had nothing to do with cold.  In fact, we have had some nice and mild temperatures recently for our area (temperature above 32F or 0C).

Marchel,

I should have been more precise and said it was slices of apple pie and not a whole pie.   I believe that is why I have many people are not seeing it.  Time to make a correction to the title of this post.  :)

Jenny,

I like apple pie a la mode but had never heard of apple pie with cheddar on top.  I will have to try it and see.

Gary, it is interesting what you can do with a D-SLR, Christmas lights and time exposures...

Merry Christmas...

And a prosperous New Year...

Michael,

This one was done with a point and shoot but the possibilities are unlimited when you use the manual settings of a camera.

Gerry - Very creative shot of your Christmas tree lights.  Firecrackers also create great shots too.

Marc,

Thanks.  I believe you but I am not risking getting close or photographing firecrackers.
