Village at Western OaksSouthwest Austin:  Village at Western Oaks is a community of homes located between William Cannon and Slaughter Lane, just west of Mopac in Southwest Austin near Circle C Ranch.

It is one of the more beautiful areas of Austin to live in, as it is set entirely within the Edwards Aquifer Recharge Zone.  However, living near nature does not mean sacrificing convenience, since Village at Western Oaks is located only 10 miles from the heart of Downtown Austin as well as having its own robust retail district, meaning anything you need is only a short drive away.

What makes this area special though are the abundant forests and the dedicated undeveloped acreage to keep the integrity of the Edwards Aquifer Recharge Zone intact.  Since Village at Western Oaks is entirely located within this zone, home owners must be careful as to what kinds of pesticides and chemicals they use to maintain their lawns or wash their laundry with, as this can affect the wild life living within the caves and the aquifer itself.  Just think of it as a good way to learn how to use the organically inclined green thumb within all of us.

Within the borders of the Village at Western Oaks lies an 18-acre nature preserve called the Karst Preserve.  It's rich with opportunities for exploration, since it has five caves and a sink hole caused by a collapsed cave.  This area houses many interesting little critters (and some interesting big critters you don't want to get too close to!) and beautiful wild greenery.

It also has miles of trails, great for hikers and bikers alike.  Village of Western Oaks is also conveniently located near the Barton Creek Greenbelt and is just a few minutes from Barton Springs itself.  Just south of Village at Western Oaks is another beloved Austin gem: The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.  Lady Bird dedicated much of her life to beautifying Texas and the wildflower center is an extension of that.  You can see an array of beautiful wildflowers during Springtime that are hard to come by elsewhere, though the center is a great place to visit year round.

Another perk to living at Village at Western Oaks is how close it is to the heart of the hill country; just a 20 minute drive westward can get you to some of the most beautiful scenery Texas has to offer.

Village at Western Oaks offers both serene scenery and proximity to businesses.  Does it get much better than that?
