According to ForeclosureRadar, a Northern California-based data company that monitors California's distressed property market, Trustee's Sales (also known as foreclosure sales) are being canceled in record numbers.

For those of you who work the short sale market, this comes a no big shock. It is fairly simple to get a foreclosure or Trustee's Sale postponed if you have the determination, the tenacity, the time, and a lot of patience.

Roger Showley, a staff writer for the San Diego Union Tribune summarizes the statistics with regard to the percentage of sales being postponed and cancelled. It's interesting stuff. You may want to check it out!

I have actually seen a couple of blogs here (I think) that were address the fact that some lenders are just not foreclosing during the holidays, to kinda give folks a break.  Hard to believe, but could be true.

Yes, I saw the same blog that the lenders are waiting until after the holidays...I think it was on the CAR newsletter. Hopefully they are working with people!

Melissa - thanks for passing this along. It's an interesting, and positive, trend, at least in the short term. The news about no evictions during the holidays is also welcome news for many.

Yes, I think more of us are getting the hang of getting them postponed so we can sell and they are also postponing and canceling more since it is Christmas and frankly they are not set up to take as many foreclosures as they have so they put them off.

Interesting article by Roger, Melissa, I would like to think the short sales and loan mods will help stabilize the market more - time will tell what the new year will bring!
