Small Reminders

Real Estate Agent with Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate| The Good Life Group

When I first started selling Real Estate in Omaha I had set a goal to become "Rookie of the Year".  It was not an option to be anything less.
The first week I was in real estate I was asked to hold an open house for another agent.  I never expected to do anything but sell that house.  I didn't realize how the real estate world really worked.  Wow, what a wake up call.
By 3pm I was a nervous wreck.  I had people asking me how old the roof was, how old the furnace was and I had no idea because I was very uninformed about the house and the business.  I was lucky to have found the house for that matter.
Just when I was about to be frazzled, a lady came in, asked me to list her house and we set an appointment for that evening.  She said that her husband had already moved away and she couldn't be without him any longer.  I told her I would come over as soon as I was done showing houses to another client.  I asked my manager to meet me at her home and I listed it that evening.   Boy, was I excited!
In 7 days it was under contract and closed within 30 days.  My first check was for over $9,000 and I had my first of many happy sellers.
I remember taking my daughters school shopping and for the first time in my life I could buy them anything they wanted. I will never forget my youngest daughter crying because she didn't want to take all of my money.  I pulled out the wad of cash I had and told her not to worry.  She just smiled, got all excited and started picking things out.  I was sooo proud of myself at that time.  It was the happiest time of my life as far as money goes.
Sometimes I get complacent and I have always been a simple person.  I love what I do, but when I have a few months worth of money in the bank I get comfortable and slack off.  I need to stop doing that.  We all do.  I had 3 deals fall through last month to the tune of over $11,000.  It really scared me, but I remembered that I just had to set a goal and I once again I am Determined, Unstoppable and on Fire!
The thing that is keeping me going is the fact that I want to take my kids on vacation to Jamaica or Mexico.  I have never taken a nice family vacation and my girls inspire me to do better.
Of course things aren't happening as quickly as I expected, but despite all of that, this year I have had a record year.
Who am I kidding, I know what I'm made of.  I have never really been afraid of anything.  If I was, I just faked it til I made it.  I just have to keep picturing myself with my family on the beach and pretend my feet are already in the sand and the sun is on my face.
I just have to remind myself of where I came from and where I'm going! I have to remember that I am Tracie Weaver and I can do whatever I set my mind to do!
