Who brings a gun to a snowball fight?

Over the Top.

Washington D.C.: A Veteran Detective pulled a gun during a snowball fight. The Off-duty officer’s personal vehicle was struck by several snowballs during the recent record snowfall he apparently took offense to that and displayed his weapon. The assistant Chief told reporters the Detective was placed on desk duty pending a further investigation.

New York N.Y.: Two EMT’s were suspended without pay after leaving a coffee shop in which a pregnant woman collapsed…while the Emergency Medical Technicians were taking a break. The EMT’s were asked to help, and told a restaurant employee to call 911 as they walked out not wishing to be of service. The 25-year old women and her unborn child both died a short time later.

Boston M.A.: Police were called at 2:30 a.m. by the mother of a teenaged boy, who refused to stop playing a video game and go to sleep. The two officers responding to the 911 call said they were not surprises in this day and age…that it took their intervention to convince the teen to obey his mother.

Are we all going Crazy? Have we lost our common sense? Is it any wonder people are walking away from obligations and mortgages?

I swear I'm not making this stuff up...P.S. Happy Holidays...I think?

Gerry, I wouldn't want to be around if any of the above mentioned pillars of the community don't get the correct Holiday gifts.

Jason...I'm glad I live out in the sticks where people still lend a hand because it's simply the right thing to do.

Steve - Amazing stories like these come out at this time of the year for some strange reason... I don't get it either... Way to bizarre for me to comprehend on any level... Had heard all of these except the 3rd one... Too bizarre... I just don't know what to say...And it seems everyday even more of these stories are surfacing... It's a crazy world out there....

I saw the idiot on TV with the gun at the snowball fight, but the other two... hadn't seen those yet.  And yes, common sense is on vacation all over the country.

I live in a small town and for the most part everyone helps each other on a daily basis.  I can't seem to get over the EMT crew that refused to help because they were on break...Shame on Them!

Wishing you a Safe and Merry Christmas in your little corner of this crazy world!

I hadn't heard about any of these occurnces.  They defy my understanding.  The GOOD NEWS is that I do believe MOST people are decent, kind, honorable and will take the high road and do the right thing.

School is never out for the Successful.

Steve - Seems to me that moving to the sticks is an escape not a solution.

I live right outside of Killadelphia. Every March my church selects a handful of needy inner city folks who have asked for a helping hand. We have installed handrails, paneling, wash and paint walls, fix broken front doors, rake leaves, whatever we can physically do for them as an outreach to the community in and around Philadelphia.

We also feed and shelter the homeless. A few days before Thanksgiving we have a big Thanksgiving dinner with the homeless people that come to our church.

Paraphrasing Mahatma Gandhi, "The change I want in the world has to begin with me."

You make a great point.  Years ago, no one would have predicted that people would just walk away from their homes like they are doing now.  But, if the folks next door did it, why can't we?  Another thing that surprises me is that I have heard that people would rather pay their credit cards than their mortgage.  This shocks me because credit cards are unsecured, but a house they can take away from you!  Maybe it's because they still want to buy stuff...
