Client Client Gift Ideas for the Last Minute Shopper

Are you a procrastinator? Doing all of your Christmas shopping this weekend?  The hardest people to shop for seem to be clients and support staff.  You want to let them know you appreciate them, but need to watch what you spend because of the amount of people you are purchasing for.  Below is a list of suggestions that let people know you are thinking of them.  Some suggestions are 'non gift' ideas. This is the perfect time of year to reach out to past clients you have not seen or talked to in a while.  However instead of just sending a Christmas card, go one step beyond.  These ideas may not fit every client but hopefully they will inspire you to think outside of the box.

  • Donate to a charity in your client's name.  Most charities will send a little note or card letting them know.
  • Send a handwritten note along with a card.  Nobody takes the time to hand write notes anymore.  So when they do, it seems extra special. Use your letterhead.
  • Forward a relevant article, blog, website related to their business.  This lets them know you are interested in them, what they do, their services.
  • If this is a recent past client, forward an article or magazine related to decorating to give them ideas for their new home.
  • Gift card to large online retailers like Amazon.com.  Amazon is a great site because it is a portal to hundreds of other sites.  It is reputable and it offers gift cards.
  • Food such as gourmet nuts. Or if there is something you know your client likes that can be shipped, send that.
  • Purchase a service from one client, and give that service to another client. For example, if you have one client that cleans homes, purchase one home cleaning and give it as a gift.
  • Magazine subscriptions are good gifts as they continue to give all year long.

This list is a good start, and these items can be obtained right now.  Most of these can also be bought online.  So stop procrastinating and start writing those Merry Christmas notes!

Jeff,

Your ideas are good, but I still liked someone's idea of hand delivery of an item.

Networking is still person to person and sometimes our past clients who are our best sources of

referrals have lost or contact information.

You can make purchases after Christmas and still get "holiday credit" with those you wish to remember.

Some people are even more thankful as their thoughts that you had forgotten them are proved wrong.

I'm waiting till the day after and going for the holiday wrapped chocolates for those on my list.
