I don't have to dream about it, here it is. Along with 4 to 8 inches of snow, we have 60 mile per hour wind gust. The picture was from this morning, but it is a lot worse now. To use a Johnny Carson gag, How cold is it? It is so cold I am thinking about creating a new social network, Active Snow. The planes are not flying, the interstates are closed, and I am not leaving the house. I might try to set a record on the number of blog post I can do in a day. My girlfriend Charlene is in my dog house. She is in West Palm Beach Florida with her family for Christmas, and sent me a picture from the beach, and at 77 degress. The winbd chill makes it below zero here.
Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining. My poodles are asleep together in my office, I have the fireplace on, and there is Baileys in my hot chocolate. If I run out of Baileys I may brave the roads. Seriously, I love these days even though I am not a cold weather person. I have a plan of action, and being alone allows me to remember what I am grateful for and to who.
First, I am grateful to MD Anderson in Houston. I came back from there two weeks ago, and after one year past treatment my cancer is gone. I know I have five years out as the magic number, but it is just like when you hit 100K points here, it is a milestone. For the first time, I believe that it is behind me, and to go into 2010 that way is a real contrast to 2009. It will be a great year regardless of production, because I am breathing.
I am grateful to my family, my friends, and my support group. They kept my spirits up, and they show you that there is an inate goodness in humans. Rant what you will about bad this or that, our government, the world, I choose to remember their kindness instead. I owe the world a lot of love that I amy not be able to repay in my lifetime, but I am going to try.
I am grateful to the real estate community. Yes I know about all the complaints about low entry level and the like but you know what? Realtors are some of the most giving people on earth. Our purpose is to help others do the right thing with their housing. I believe we have good hearts, and when the chips are down, we are there for you. I experienced this last year in my battle, and I can tell you, the outpouring of sympathy makes you feel good to be a Realtor.
Finally, I am grateful to Active Rain. I really discovered Active Rain during my radiation. I had about 3000 points at the time, and in November I started blogging here. One year and 150,000 more points later, I feel like I belong to you my friends and collegues. I remember when after quite a few post I got my first comment. In my state of mind at that time, that first comment was like winning the lottery. I cried it meant so much to me and I am crying now thinking about it. Thank you Robert May. You folks are more than just tech gods, or great producers, and prolific writers, you were my lifeline, and I hope that 2010 brings you health, wealth, and spirtual peace.
