Better late to the party than not at all! I just read Bob's post on the SHIFT contest (yesterday) and wanted to add my contribution.
SHIFT has been sitting on my bookshelf for some months while we have been busy with real estate. I learn so much here on Active Rain that there is little time to read books anymore.
However, when you hear repeatedly about one book, you have to wonder why you haven't read it.So here goes:
My first New Year's Resolution for 2010 is to read SHIFT.
The market has definitely shifted. Our business has shifted.
It will be interesting to see what Gary Keller says that parallels our experience and also what he says that will enhance our business in this challenging market. One thing I know - agents who have not shifted have not thrived.
Things we have done to survive: 1. Cut our expenses (and we're about to get out the chopping block again) 2. Shifted our focus to Distressed Properties (half our business this year came from distressed properties) 3. Prospected Expired Listings (4 new listings within the last 40 days)
Thanks, Bob for the bribe impetus to read this book that is already a real estate classic. I'll be back to post my perspective when I've read it, even though the bribe points will be the regular amount.
