Back in October, after I attended the Raincamp, I realized that Ben Kinney is totally right. Social media is the only way forward and "being a geek is cool". Right away, I became a Rainmaker and I got Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn accounts. At the beginning, I wasn't ready to write blogs, so Instead, I read as many of them as I could. I just added my comments wherever that was appropriate.
Finally, last week, I felt ready to write my first blog, A Story Of A Home Stager's Meltdown! I took it as a good omen, when it was featured, something that I didn't anticipate at all. Within a day, I found out that my blog has been going around the web. Different people made links to it on Twitter and I found that some of the tweets referring to my blog, were being retweeted as well. It being my first blog entry, it was an eye opening experience to see how this process works.
However, the biggest surprise came today. I found an email via Activerain. I know only one person with the name of Gohar and that was from 35 years ago from back home in Iran. Being very curious, I opened the email. To my amusement, yes, it was the same Gohar, my school friend. She found my blog and traced it back to Activerain, where she found my contact info on my profile page. She lives in the other Washington, as we Washingtonians like to refer to DC. This amazing and unexpected connection began at Activerain with my blog. Today, I'm over the moon, that I've found my friend and I just wanted to let you that I love you, Activerain.
If a friend from 35 years ago can find me on the web because of you, I know that the future clients can find me here as well. I do my part by being the best home stager that I can be and you're doing your part by passing the word around. Together we win. I believe that the good things come in threes. First, it was my blog that was featured, second was my childhood friend, who found me. Now I'm anxiously waiting for the third event and when it does come to pass, I'll make sure to write another blog about it.
