Reduce, Reuse & Recycle, Fa la la, la la, la la la la

Home Stager with Ready 2 Stage

Do you throw away your old scraps of Christmas wrapping paper and ribbon?  How about old Christmas cards?.....Well, this year I decided to go "Green" and use those small bits of leftover paper and ribbon.  Even if they didn't necessarily coordinate and match with each other....they look quirky and fun.  Those small pieces of paper are perfect for wrapping small gift books for teacher gifts, or jewlery boxes for someone special.  Don't toss out the wired ribbon that was wrapped around that gift basket!  Reuse it to tie onto your boxed candy gifts.

How about those beautiful old Christmas cards?  I absolutely hate to throw them out, so I chose to cut around the beautiful pictures and wording to make a new tag for another gift.  (Just be sure the person's name is not written on the back! ha)  These cards are still special, and can bring happiness to someone else.

I used quite a bit of the stock that I had saved for years and avoided buying more wrapping paper and gift tags this year; and the result is a beautiful eclectic mix of wrapped gifts.

Do you have thrifty ideas for reducing, reusing and recycling this post-Christmas season?

Hi Lori,

Good for you, we all could be doing more of this. Earlier I wrote a blurb on FB about something similar, sharing and teaching our kids to recycle more to be kinder to Mother Earth.

I love your ideas for reusing the leftover scraps of Christmas wrap!  I've saved old Christmas cards and now I'll have a good way to use them next year ... thanks for the idea!

Lynda--We should all be doing our part.  It's hard to believe, but some people still aren't recycling!?!  Thanks for your comment.

Great ideas and the results were beautiful!  You are so creative - I love when you share your good ideas!  I must admit I do not save a whole lot - the years of moving around kick in.  Now I may just try for next year!  Hope you have a wonderful new year Lori!

Great Idea for the Christmas Cards!

I reuse holiday gift bags and tissue, as many times as I can.  I note the things I am low on, then shop the post Christmas sales, to be ready for next Xmas!

My daughter is learning to do the same.

Happy New Year!

Laurie--It's good to teach the younger generations to reduce, reuse and recycle.  I think a good field trip for them is to see an actual landfill and be aware of how much waste that we produce.  They will certainly see things differently after that!  Thanks for your comment!
