City Now Requiring Co-Pay for Household Hazardous Material Drop-Off Minimize Effective immediately the City of Louisville has established a $10 co-pay for use of the Boulder County Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) facility. Previously Louisville residents with unwanted or unused household hazardous waste products could drop them off at the HHW facility with no charge to the resident. Louisville reimburses the County for expenses related to the management of their resident’s materials. The co-pay will offset approximately 20% of the $30,000 per year cost to the City for this service. Given the City's declining revenue it is necessary to implement the $10 co-pay for Louisville residents using this service. This co-pay is one of many charges for service, or reduction in services, implemented by the City in order to address its declining revenues. The $10 co-pay will be collected by Boulder County HHW staff at the time one uses the facility. Boulder County is accepting payments in cash or check with checks payable to the Boulder County Treasurer. For further information regarding the establishment of the $10 co-pay, please contact the Public Works Department at 303.335.4601 or pworks@LouisvilleCo.gov. The HHW facility is located at the Western Disposal Services Waste Transfer Station, 5880 Butte Mill Road, Boulder. More information on the Household Hazardous Waste Program is available at www.bouldercountyrecycles.net, or by calling the HHW Hotline at 303.441.4800 or the Boulder County Resource Conservation Division at 720.564.2220. The HHW facility is regularly open from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, and from 8:00 a.m. to noon on Fridays and Saturdays. Reusable products are also available to the public during these hours. Before delivering any waste, residents are advised to check the HHW facility’s hotline at 303.441.4800 for closure information. The outdoor nature of the collection facility also results in occasional closures due to extreme weather including: below freezing temperatures, temperatures above 98 degrees Fahrenheit, rain, snow, high winds, and lightening storms.
