We have buyers moving from many different areas of the Country. Sometimes they want to know, "Do I need to test for radon?" The answer to Florida radon testing is a personal Buyer decision. This post was inspired by a fellow blogger, David Monsour's post on radon.
Consider the following:
#1 The buyer's comfort level. Some buyers insist on testing for everything to rule out even the slimmest possibility of problems in their home, going beyond the building and WDO inspections to testing for radon, mold, pool leaks and more.
#2 Your location in Florida. Most areas of Florida have the lowest levels of radon, Level 3, less than 2 PCi/L, giving it a low potential for indoor radon levels.
According to the EPA Florida Counties map, there are only a handful of counties at Level 2, which is a moderate potential for indoor radon levels. Counties indicated on the map with possible Level 2 Radon levels include Central Florida Polk County, South Florida Dade County, Southwest Florida Hillsborough County, and a few others.
There are no counties in Northeast Florida with a Radon Level of 2 or Level 1, according to the EPA Florida Counties Map as of December 2009.
Counties indicated on the map with possible Level 2 Radon levels include Central Florida Polk County, South Florida Dade County, Southwest Florida Hillsborough County, and a few others.
The information given here is for the purpose of educating Buyers on levels of radon in Northeast Florida according to the EPA. For more information about radon, please consult the EPA website. The EPA recommends that all homes be tested for radon.
Ask your building inspector about radon testing.
