Snowing In Vancouver Washington

We have spent the evening enjoying the unexpected snow storm that hit us today.  It has been a pleasant surprise.  We love to go around the area and take pictures.  We were fortunate to have a nice four wheel drive to get through the snow.  We have seen so many people stuck tonight.  No one thought that it would snow this much.  I really didn't think that we would get any snow this year after the "snow storm of the decade" hit us hard last year.

The boys have really enjoyed having a day to play in the snow.  They spent most of the evening sledding and snow boarding down our street.  We live on a nice hill so it is the place to be when we get at least 3 inches of snow.  Tonight with 5 inches, the kids in the neighbor hood are loving it!!  I had to drag them in at 9:30pm!

I do love having the great camera gear.  We use the Cannon Xsi40D and love it.  It makes taking pictures so easy and fun.  It is by far the best camera I have ever owned.  I have purchased several other lenses and attachments for my camera as well.  With an adapter, the old camera lenses that I have from my 35mm Cannon camera will work with my new digital Cannon Xsi40D.

I took a lot of pictures tonight while I was out so I hope you all enjoy them.  As a photographer, I can't help it!!  Drive safe if you are in our area tonight.  The snow is still falling.  We filled the boys with pasta, salad, garlic bread, and home baked chocolate chip cookies.  It smells great in the house, the tree is lit, the snow is falling, and the boys are dreaming of snow boarding and sledding.  It has been a wonderful day and a terrific Christmas.

New Years Day we are shooting a wedding.  It is our youngest son's 12th birthday on the first as well.  Again, enjoy the photo's and if your from around our neck of the woods... try to stay warm.

The snow is beautiful!  Have a Happy New Year Everyone!

Hello Hannah,

Looks like it will be another day of home baked goodies to help keep the house warm.  I think butter cookies will be our cookie of choice today.  Decorating them will give us something to do while we watch the snow.  We wish you the best of luck in 2010!  Have a Happy New Year!

Hello Fred,

Nope!  They were taken yesterday! We got 5 inches.  Last year we had 18 inches here.  We live in a little cold pocket here and we get the cold air off of the Gorge and off of the Columbia River, so we get a bit more snow than the areas surrounding us.  Our oldest son is still out playing in it.  Youngest son got to cold and is cuddled up with his Mom watching a movie now.  We were quite surprised as they said we would get a slight dusting!  Boy were they off!!!  Hope you have a Happy New Year and best wishes in 2010!
