With my second cup of coffee I'm feeling a little overwhelmed with all the goals I have for 2010. Are too many goals not good? I am driven by goals, but now that I'm reflecting more, I believe we really have to focus on the important ones that will make a difference, and if time permits, follow through on the rest. I have my 2010 Business Plan all written out, am starting with a bang for January, but feel the need to write out more personal goals on paper and get them logged in my calendar. Hope you feel the same. By writing everything out, seems I can get more done. Lists, Lists, Lists. Next year I'm going to try journaling every day. (I have the Journals). Happy New Year to you and your families. It's a good Life, and Oh by the way, I'm never too busy for your referrals.
Catherine it sounds like a great plan. Don't think you can have too many. If you 'thought it' then right it down and do it. The journey is the special part anyhow! Happy New Years!
I think everybody is different. some people need a load of goals and others are overwhelmed by it.
Hi Catherine,
As a coach I see a lot cases where too many goals is an issue. If you have too many goals, you cannot possibly fit the proper action steps into your schedule. If you can, it is very unlikely that you will actually hold yourself accountable to that schedule.
I would suggest a couple of things:
1. Learn how to write promises instead of goals. You can find more information here.
2. Prioritize the 7 different equities of life (family, health, mental/spiritual development, charitable, spiritual, business financial, personal financial)
3. After prioritizing and writing promises, incorporate your action steps for each promise into your schedule.
I hope this helps! Feel free to reach out for assistence. Thank you,

Hi John and Thanks for the tips. The hardest part is doing everything on the calendar--I have to get better at following my own plans. Thanks again for the advice.
