I better start this post with IMHO: A Resolution shouldn't be made just because everyone else is making them! Last year my resolutions actually happened! I made them for personal reasons, gave myself a plan and made them happen. I even held myself accountable and kept track in a diary. Not a book anyone else would want to read but, it worked for me.
- I lost 20 pounds with more focus than determination
- Spent more time with the family
- Sorted and cleared "stuff" in the house
- Decided that I wanted one particular job and gave it a lot of attention-I may know more next week, then there will be a blog post before the beginning of February about how to get your dream job-maybe!
- I even cleared out my closet! (Paring down is good for the mind too!)
This year I am having trouble coming up with many resolutions that I want to make happen! So today I googled for a list of ideas. So funny (odd funny-not haha) that most all of them started with the weight issues. (I lost 20 pounds last year!) Maybe I'm just to sleepy today to make those plans. Maybe after I finish the work that is planned for the day I'll just make a list and then make the plans tommorrow! (Resolutions are work-is that why a lot of us don't reach that weight loss goal? I have my business goals those are always easy to do-Practice makes perfect! 18 years January 2nd.
Then I found this link and thought-hmmm I have been telling myself that I am interested in a greener life perhaps there are things on this list that I really could get motivated about. I don't believe that the government should be in charge of keeping Mother Nature happy-that is partly my job and maybe yours if you care to play outside! That doesn't mean that the city council can't get involved-I'd love to see them lead by example and I live in a city that sends me a GREENER LIFE calendar every year and has their city employees driving Prius cars. They are surrounding us with the ideas that we should be thinking about anyway. When you are immersed in the concepts of keeping the world a better place it starts to seep into your bones. My grandmother had a lot of these ideas too. We lost them in 2 generations. Whoa! I want them back! So this next spring-I am planting a garden and hoping to get my youngest daughter to help and eat from it! I don't like styrofoam anyway-I can lose that. I do recycle and can compost-heaven knows there are enough leaves in the backyard to make a layer! I have this little triangle of earth that would grow some wonderful flowers if I just fed it a bit so the egg shells and teabags are going right there for now. I'll let you know how it goes and you may even get some flower photos in the spring.
Maybe the answer to why we do this is we talk ourselves into it? I'm starting to feel it now! How about you? Here's one that I will have to work on:
- Learn to write shorter but still effective sentences for blogging, tweeting and microblogging
Have an incredible year! New decade too! Remember Y2K? and we thought that was going to be so scary!
