Blue moon and Lunatics

Today is a unique day not just because it is the end of 2009 but because it is what they call a "Blue Moon".

When you have two full moons in a given month, the typically refer to second one as a "Blue Moon".

The moon is also credited / blamed for influencing peoples behaviors due to it's gravitational pull.  Did you know it is the moon's gravitational impact that control the tides on earth?  Some believe the impact of the moon's gravitational pull on some peoples cerebral fluid surrounding their brain on full moons can have a negative impact as well.  Lunar is a word for moon so you shouldn't be surprised to know that "Lunatic" is based on this concept.

Blue Moon

Therefore, it seems appropriate to play this song today in tribute:

Happy New Year!

You could spend a day researching the connection and having fun at the same time.  (At least I do since I enjoy abnormal phsychology).  I guess I am just "Luney"

Jim, It is appropriate that we will celebrate the end of this decade under a blue moon...nothing this year has been normal...let the lunacy begin!

A perfect end to a screwed up year.

A full moon will bring out the crack pots, but this is even more of an issue!

We had two clear nights with the blue moon--splendid to see the shadows on our backyard.  No lunatics last night though.  :)

As a former cop, I can testify that crazy stuff happened a lot more often on full moon nights than any other.

Weird stuff.

Amazing how much those ancient folks knew long before modern science!

I hope y'all took advantage of it.  Not supposed to happen on New Years Eve again until 2028.

I wonder how many of us will still be around then??

My New Years has already started off great in that on New Year's day, I flew to Phoenix for the Fiesta Bowl to watch the battle of the unbeaten's TCU vs. BSU.  The last few minutes of the game reminded me of the 2007 Fiesta Bowl when BSU beat OSU.  Hopefully next year I can go back to Glendale to watch the BSU Bronco's win the BCS National Championship.  Go Bronco's!

Erby, I was curious if the police department used to staff up extra due to the full moon effect or not?  I think by 2028, my party days will me minimized somewhat, so the full moon on New Years Eve may pass by with a little less fan fare (grin).
