Here's Mine:

By
Real Estate Agent with Atlas Property Group and Abbey Church Properties

I was not going to bore everyone with my New Year's resolutions. Increase my income, spend more time with family, exercise, lose weight...you've heard them all before. However, I'm hoping that some of my friends, both old and new, will hold me accountable if I publicly declare. So here goes, not in any particular order.

1. Do more research and planning. The need to do so seems to be a recurrent theme from people whose opinions I respect. OK. You guys win. I will do better business plans.

2. Develop a more consistent routine. Those of us who live, work, and breathe real estate are usually terrible at this. But I know it keeps me better focused. So I will go to bed when I should, get up when the alarm goes off, get to the gym. I'll set aside that same day every week for recurrent tasks. And then I will save the world, win the Miss America pageant, and be the last Survivor.

3. Maybe I should break my goals down into meaningful, manageable, realistic, achieveable, and measureable goals. So maybe I won't save the world this year, but I will go to bed on time.

4. I do, however, need to lose another 10 pounds before I go to Hawaii in March. Not much time, so I will get to that gym on a regular basis.

5. Organize, organize and organize some more. I have already started lightening my load by throwing away tons of stuff and giving away more. I was raised by a mother who survived the Great Depression and therefore never threw away anything.  Her motto was always "It might come in handy some day".  It's hard to go against all of that childhood training, but I will try. It's been a failing of mine and I will do my best. It's just so much more fun to be out running around, scouting out properties, showing houses and selling real estate!

6. Spend more time with family? My family live and work with me. I think this year my resolution is to spend more time with ME! It has always been hard to ask for what I want and what I need. I've started doing a little more of that the past 3 months. I think I like it!

7. And finally, that increasing my income thing. If I ask for what I want and need, if I am healthier, if I am more organized and more focused, I'm going to bet that the income will follow. We'll see if I'm right.

Lisa, about the Hawaii thing.  Just go!  Don't worry about losing ten pounds.  Whether you do or not, there will be plenty of people on the beach bigger than you are, and they won't be looking at you but at the gorgeous scenery!  And if you rent a car, get a convertible!

Oh, we'll be going! I weighed more when I was there before. Just never enough time when I'm there. We'll only be on Maui but still there are a lot of whales to watch, and galleries to view, and waterfalls to play in and luaus to eat at all in less than a week. Maybe it will give us incentive to do well this year so we can go back next year!

Thanks Pat as well!

Get rid of stuff you don't need.  You would be surprised how less clutter can make your life clearer.  Not going to read that old book?  Donate it!  You can always borrow a copy from the local library if you feel you want to read it again!

Right on Lisa, family time is great, but I am taking a day off here and there to spend time with myself... All those books I want to read and making sure the business and the team is on track...

Lisa--All of your goals are worthy of being on the list.  Start with each day by reading your list.  Then end each day by reviewing how you did.  2010 will be your year to accomplish your goals.  Good luck.
