Free Speech Under Attack By Obama Administration ~ AGAIN! (Revised)

By
Real Estate Agent

Yet another story is being reported today that should raise alarms and concerns with those who value our right to free speech.

No it is not being carried by the Main Stream Media.

  • Little attention is being paid to this incident and the majority of Americans have no idea what has gone on.

Within 23 hours of the Christmas Day attempted sabotage of Flight 253, an internal memo entitled Security Directive SD-1544-09-06, was distributed by TSA on counter measures they intended to institute.  The memo was distributed internally to TSA employees.  It is important to note that this directive was not "secret" or "classified" information.

  • Almost immediately Fox News reported the new initiatives as well as two bloggers Chris Elliott and Steve Frischling.  Elliott writes a travel column for the Washington Post.  Frischling is a blogger who writes a travel blog called "Flying with Fish".

The memo included such ridiculous measures as no standing up within an hour of landing.  No bathroom trips within an hour of landing. No pillows or blankets being distributed.  No access to over head bins within an hour of landing.  Nothing in your hands - even a book within an hour of landing.

  • These lame measures were absolutely laughable.  Frankly, it was scary to think this was our governments response to the attempt to murder 300 people.

  • The counter measures reminded one of those policies a teacher might institute in a kindergarten classroom.

After being published by Elliott and Frischling, the restrictions were widely ridiculed by travel experts, bloggers, and news organizations, which deeply embarrassed the TSA and the homeland security agency, already under pressure for their missteps in the foiled attack.

By the next day TSA was backing away from these stupid and ineffective counter measures.  Guess someone told them counter measures needed to be initiated that stopped terrorists from getting on the plane in the first place.

  • On Tuesday, December 29th, at night both Elliott and Frischling  were visited by Special Agents and served subpoenas for their computers and their emails.  The agents wanted them to identify who sent them the memo from TSA.

Elliott refused to divulge his source and would not give up his computer to federal agents under journalist protection.  Frischling was told by agents he was not a member of the press and therefore had no protection afforded to him under the law.

  • Frischling said his computer was returned this morning (Dec 31,2009) with several corrupted sectors and that he was running software to repair it. He said he had given the agents his computer because the directive had been sent to him anonymously, that he had deleted the original e-mails, and that it had been sent to him by someone who had undoubtedly used a phony e-mail name and address.
  • Francis DiScala Jr., Fischling's attorney, criticized the DHS for using "heavy-handed tactics" and "intimidating" his client. "Federal agents came and confiscated the tools of his trade at night in front of his three children," DiScala said. "When federal agents show up at your door with badges, their very presence is intimidating. The weight of the government is on you and just you. Steve was not motivated by generosity in giving up his personal computer, which he uses to earn a living."

The Obama administration was embarrassed because they were ridiculed.  The Obama administration hired some jack ass who wrote the most stupid memo of the century and the general public found out about it.

  • How does the Obama administration react?  Go after those who reported the stupid memo, not the jack ass who wrote it.

In the last year we have seen many attempts by the Obama administration to stifle and control free speech.

  • 1. The report your neighbor address - flag@whitehouse.gov.
  • 2. The illegal collection of emails addresses and contact information of citizens who wrote to the administration in dissent.
  • 3. The gag order on Humana trying to prevent them from accurately informing their customers how they would be affected by health care reform.
  • 4. Two bloggers, reporting the facts to the public are threatened with fines and imprisonment unless they reveal their sources.

Let me remind all that the first 3 of the above attempted restrictions of our rights were not only reported by Fox News, but the 1st 3 were brought to light by Major Garrett questioning White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs, during daily briefings.

  • I find it noteworthy to add, Fox News did not receive the same subpoena.  Only the two individuals who blogged were targeted by the government.

It has been clear on several occasions that the Obama administration has been heavy-handed with anyone who would dares to criticize them.  This is not a peek into the future.  This is the new reality and happening now.

Our Constitution is under attack by this administration from all directions.  Our First and primary freedom, the right of Free Speech, is in dire peril by Obama and his henchmen.

Who scares you more? The would be bombers or the Obama administration?

ADDED:Here is a link to a blow by blow account of the heavy handed tactics used on Steve Frischling and a pic of the Spook who visited him.

The Obama administration was embarrassed because they are inept, inexperienced and just plain stupid.

Bonnie, I had not read this yet. Thanks for bringing it out. Scary stuff going on right now in our nation.

I'll go check out the bloggers you mentioned in your post. Hadn't heard of them.

Hello Bonnie, glad to find a Fox New fan. Yes, this administration scares me. The last several years we have been changing what America is just to make foreigners feel like they are in their own country. Don't get me wrong I don't want anyone to feel repressed when living in the U.S. but they come here to have what we have. Let's not change what we have; we can always improve without compromising our constitution.

What are all of us doing?  If we are on the right or the left none of us want this kind of abuse of the 1st amendment.  Where is the outrage?  Thank you for the blog I am outraged.

Patrick, Those voters who wanted change are certainly getting it.  The New World Order is nothing short of Socialism.

Perhaps they should change the name of the Democratic party to the UN-Democratic party.

Nick, you are correct.  They were embarrassed and they deserve to be embarrassed.  This administration is the most laughable collection of incompetency we have seen in the last 100 years.

Missy, read the attached article under the source link in the blog.  You and millions of Americans have no idea what is going on daily.  The Press is in the pocket of the administration.

Mandy, I am a fan of Fox News.  Those of us who follow it are ridiculed by those who would prefer to keep the truth hidden.

I'm not in favor of welcoming anyone who finds themselves "in" our country if they are illegal.

I am not in favor of altering our way of life to accommodate those who refuse to learn our language or our customs.

If you want to escape where you were born for a better life, embrace our country and shed the old.

When our ancestors came here they spoke many languages and had deeply planted traditions.  They learned our language and joined our society without special accommodations.

A few years ago I was a witness in a traffic accident.  In the courtroom a man had a baseball cap on and other had a turban.  The man with the baseball cap was made to remove it.  The man with the turban was allowed to keep his head covered.

I was appalled that we as citizens had to comply but a foreignor who lived in our country did not.

Screw bending over backwards to make aliens feel at home.   This is our home.  You are either a guest or a member of our society.  It is our way not your way.   Accept it or get the hell out!!

Tim, Really you ask a great question.  No matter how you vote - where is the outrage that your rights are being trampled?

Have we turned into a society of Milquetoasts?

Are we so enamored with gadgets and technology gizmo's that we have forgotten our underpinnings?

Do the majority of Americans even know what our Constitution says?

Maybe we should change the voting requirements in this country.  Make it a pre-requiste to pass an exam on the Constitution and the Bill of Rights before you are permitted to vote.

You have to pass written exams on signs and traffic law to get a drivers license.

Is the responsibility to drive a car more important than the responsibility to cast a vote that drives our country?

If those agents are reading this let me be on record critizing this administration for their policies that did not work protecting the flying public.

Mike,  Some fail to see how our administration failed.  The man's father, a prominent banker, went to the US Embassy and reported his son, and no one did anything. The system failed.

Instead of looking for fixes this administration either plays the blame game - or seeks out those who would expose their failures.

Bonnie, Once again this administration is all about pointing the finger at someone else.  This kind of bullshit needs to stop soon.  Man up Barry and take responsibility for your failures and fix them.  Safety of this country should take front burner.

Great post Bonnie!

Bonnie,  this is very troubling news.  You've put all the pieces together well.  Count me as one more afraid of my own government.  The main reason?  I have no doubt we as a solidified nation can defeat any outside enemy, but obama is like Satan in that he is the great deceiver and continues to deceive many to this day despite his actions which tell everything.

Bob, No wonder the libs finger point so well.  Their leader constantly plays the blame game.

I'm ready for the bullshit to end.  This administration is the most destructive force attacking our country today.

We can survive economic hardship. We can survive attacks from enemies.  We cannot survive when our President is intent on destroying us from within.

Georgia, Nice to see you again.  I agree that we can defeat any adversity. We cannot defeat the greatest evil we have in our midst today unless we take forceful action to destroy it.

Excellent summary, Bonnie!

For the sake of "fairness" - what heavy-handed tactics have the previous administrations used against American Citizens?

I'm sure those on the Left will quickly point to Pres. Bush's stance on wiretapping (even) Citizen's telephone conversations with overseas-Terrorists... even though the focus was CLEARLY to intercept Terrorists' plans, not to intercept Private American Citizens' conversations.

But there was one event that most quickly jumped to mind with this story of the two bloggers being visited at night by Federal Agents and forced to give up personal property...

that would be the Clinton Administration's actions before dawn on April 22, 2000.

Dave,  We should learn by our past mistakes.  Not proliferate them.

I'm sure the other side will look backwards.  Listening to phone calls of American citizens and possibly recording them is one thing.  Conducting a raid to remove a child to send him back to Cuba is another.  Not saying I agree with either one or not.  Confirming I am aware they happened.

Confiscating the personal and intellectual property of an American citizen, for the temerity of exercising free speech is intolerable.  The government was conducting a "witch hunt" plain and simple.  They trampled on the rights of American citizens in the process.

Some how I thought you had to get a judge to sign a search warrant and provide probable cause a crime was committed?  What crime did these reporters commit?  What judge wiped his/her feet on our Constitution when they signed that search warrant?

Wallace, this entire matter was handled worse than the Ft Hood shooting. Instead of getting better at his job - Obama declines.  I guess it was those pressing golf games and snorkeling that had him distracted.

"I have news for the liberal Chicago gangsters in Congress. We didn't elect you to turn this country into a losing European Socialist state. What is everybody so afraid of? That some bonehead on NBC or CNN news will call them a name? Give me a break. Why don't you guys show some spine for a change?" - This is the best phrase of the day by Lee Iacocca, I couldn't agree more!!! I ran away from the Socialist Mafia in hopes it will not find me here!
