How would you like to sell houses with this technique?

By

I found this video today that just blew my mind. The company, called NuFormer Digital Media, has a way to create 3-D images and project them onto a building using the building's multilayered features as part of the image. Now, it looks to me like you need a large surface area to make these projections, but I can foresee having this used on a smaller scale as the technology evolves. Can you imagine driving by a house at night to see one of these projections on the front of the house? Hmm. Enjoy.

I love this! Yes, it will be only a matter of time for this technology to have many applications. I would surely use this on a listing....maybe for an open house?

Well it certainly would get peoples attention and as of right now...that home would stand out beyond the crowd since no one else is doing it...yet.

Wow! I"m overwelmed by the response! Thanks for commenting everyone! I think this technique is unique and very limited at this time, but isn't that what happens with something new? It usually starts out small, then as the technology gets better, more and more people will imbrace it. Next thing you know, we're all using cell phones. Hmm. I agree with Lynn. Most people are not going to tour homes at night, but if the presentation is interesting, the house could get enough media attention to attract a potential home buyer to come see it during the day. We have a neighborhood in town that's called Christmas Tree Lane. It's lit up every year by the home owners there with very intricate Christmas lighting, music and displays. People come from all over town to see the show. I've talked to the owners who love living there and have had buyers offer to buy there homes just to be a part of the annual event. If the technology for these projections was cheap enough, you could put together a show every season! How cool would that be?

Hi,

I think you're onto something that is coming.  Very cool post, thank you!

Looking at the Vimeo web site, it looks like these are just enhancements to the video of the building, and not projections onto the building itself.  It would be great for getting attention on a real estate web site, or elsewhere.  Note that Vimeo's FAQ's specifically prohibit commercial use of the site including real estate videos such as walk-throughs.

The video kept breaking up with my high speed interenet, but it looked like a laser light show. Should be easy for any computer savy artist? Too gimmicky for me.

That is pretty cool.  Although I could image a LOT of 911 calls if people weren't ready for that.  Think how much fun that would be in the French Quarter...  Drunk people... buildings freaking out...
