Wishful Thinking Or Planned Success For 2010

So whats your plan 2010?  Are you a goal setter, a optimist or do you believe it's all a matter of fate.  Two things struck me recently and not for good.  One was an article in The Saint Petersburg Times which said their was zero good from the last decade and the other was a conversation I heard in passing where one individual asked another "are you ready for the new year?  Her response was "you bet, I am so happy to have this crappy year behind me and ready for a better 2010.  Problem is I know this person and her track record suggest she will have the same crappy year this year as she did last because she will continue to do the same things and have the same expectations.  Why do so many people believe that a simple turn of a calender page will all of a sudden make everything OK.  If we are truly determined to make 2010 better than 09 then as my friend Zig Zigler says a check up from the neck up is in order.  How do you think, what are your expectations, visualizations  and what are you feeding your mind.

Start with a written plan and a strong picture of what you want.  When God told Abraham that he was going to be the father of many nations, which at the time he had zero children, He told him to go outside and look at the Heavens and that one day his descendants would be greater than the stars.  Now that's a strong picture.  Next, make a list of the activities that will get you where you want to go in 2010 and then find an accountability partner or coach to hold you accountable to those activities.  Finally block time every day to work on you.  Block time to read something positive and uplifting, to pray and Meditate, to read the Bible and go to church.  Turn off the radio in your car and listen to educational CD's instead.  Go to school at Automobile U.  Get physical.  Go outside every day and exercise even if that means walking for 30 minutes.

Life is what we make it and what we focus us expands.  I feel sorry for the individual that only sees bad, that sees zero good from the past decade and has no hope for improvement.  I feel equally as bad for the individual that simply feels that wishing for a happy new year will get the job done.  Come on, wishful thinking is for the birds.  Get serious, develop a plan and MAKE this year your best year ever.  Remember when you were a kid and you had a bad kick in kickball, what did you say?  You said "do-over".  There are no do-overs in life so go kick 2010's butt.

Interesting blog. Good information. Without a plan we will never meet our goals.

Definitely not just a "wisher" and a "dreamer" ... I try and set goals, make plans, set milestones, review and modify as necessary...
